Chapter 85

Emily grew up with Lucas, and she knew well what he was trying to say. She sneered and said, “I know you want me to leave, so drop the fake concern. It made me sick.”

If it hadn’t been for Charles, Emily wouldn’t have even come back here after leaving St. Gabriel Reform Academy.

A mix of awkwardness, rage, and disbelief hit Lucas. Just as he was about to say something, Gale cut in furiously, “Let her go. She’s too stubborn to listen. She doesn’t deserve your kindness.”

Gale’s face flushed with rage as he stared at Emily like she was a stranger. “Once you walk out that door, don’t ever come back again.”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Gale Bennett. It won’t happen,” Emily replied swiftly, as if afraid he might change his mind.

Gale’s expression darkened further. Lydia quickly stepped forward in feigned concern, saying, “Dad, calm down. Emily didn’t mean it and you know that. She’s just trying to be tough.”

Lydia looked at Emily and added with a tight smile, “We’re all family. A little fight is no big deal.”

Then she nudged Andrew. “Emily has been up all night, and she must be exhausted. Why don’t you take her upstairs? Lucas and I will try to talk to Dad.”

She sounded organized, calm, and even a bit cager-nothing like the tearful act from earlier. She acted like she seriously wanted Emily to stay.

Emily frowned slightly, studying Lydia with a thoughtful gaze. She knew full well how much she wanted her gone and what she said just now was just some fake kindness.

Emily thought, ‘What’s going on? Why is Lydia acting so differently?’ She felt that something was off.

Emily had already made up her mind to leave the Bennett family, and the more Lydia tried to keep her, the more determined she became. She said firmly, “I’m packing my things and leaving right now.”

Seeing that she still refused to yield, Gale’s anger flared again. However, Emily didn’t give him a chance to speak. She turned and walked straight to her room.

She didn’t want anything from the Bennett family, and she wasn’t leaving her stuff in this place she couldn’t even stand.

Emily didn’t have much stuff left here. There was just some painting stuff and a few old clothes. It didn’t take her long to get everything packed, and as she opened the door, she saw Andrew, who had hurried after her.

Seeing that she had actually packed, Andrew, who had always been composed, lost his cool. “Emily, what the hell do you want?”

Emily had no interest in arguing with him. After all, in their eyes, she was always the one making a scene, no matter what she did. There was no need to say more.

Emily walked by Andrew without even looking, like he was no one.

“Emily.” Andrew froze for a second, instinctively reaching out, only to miss her hand and knock the bag from her

grip instead.
