Chapter 206
Chapter 206
Austin suddenly grabbed her hand, his worry plain as day. “Emily, I won’t let anyone frame you.”
The determination and certainty in his eyes burned into Emily like a brand, leaving her stunned.
When the Bennett Family had blamed and cursed her, and when everyone else had pointed fingers, Emily hadn’t felt a thing.
But seeing Austin so honestly worried and so sure of her innocence, she suddenly realized she actually felt wronged.
Emily pressed her lips together, swallowing down all the feelings inside. “Don’t do anything” she told him firmly
Emily had no idea what Austin was hiding up his sleeve, but she had her way of handling things today.
Emily hadn’t planned on explaining anything, but when she met Austin’s sincere gaze, she finally spoke up, “If you really want to help me, keep this from Grandpa Charles, just for three or four days. That’s alll need.”
Austin could tell Emily had her plans. Even though he was still really worried, he trusted Emily’s choices completely.
So after hesitating for a moment, Austin let go of her hand and watched as she was led away by the police.
All this time, Lucas just stood there, dazed and silent
It was like Lucas had never snapped out of his shock since the moment the police showed up for Emily over the kidnapping. He just stood there, pale
Lucas had been the one investigating from the very beginning, and it was his tip that led the police to the kidnappers. More than anyone, he knew for a fact that Emily had nothing to do with this.
“Why did everything end up pointing at her? Lucas wondered, confusion swirling in his mind.
When Austin turned around, he saw Lucas standing there, staring blankly at the door, not snapping out of it.
Suddenly, Austin remembered that when everyone else had been blaming Emily earlier, Lucas had been the only one who hadn’t said a word.
‘Looks like he’s the only one who didn’t suspect her like me, huh?” Austin thought to himself
Lucas was the most simple–minded and hot headed one in the Bennett Family. People like him were always the most easily shaken
Austin strade over and suddenly said, “You went to show off in front of Emily all smug, so, is this what you wanted to see happen?”
Lucas’s face turned even paler. “No, I didn’t. I was just worried about her. I wanted to help.”
“Even I, an outsider, can easily find that out. If you used your head at all, Mr. Bennett, you’d be able to find out even more.”
