She comforted herself with the thought that even sharing a slice of cake with them would make her happy enough. However, before she could touch the cake prepared by Lucas, it fell right on Lydia, ruining her beautiful dress.

Lydia burst into tears, while Emily, once cherished, was blamed by everyone. They thought she did it on purpose, and Andrew even said in front of everyone that he didn’t want a vicious girl like her as his sister.

Since that day, Emily knew she had lost her elder brother.

The mention of the incident suddenly caught Andrew off guard, and he was lost for words.

He had always regretted losing his temper and saying those things back then. He wanted to apologize to Emily, but she kept going against Lydia and pissed him off many times. Eventually, he just pushed it out of his mind.

Andrew thought it was all Emily’s fault, and his face darkened again. “Why do you always have to be so sarcastic?” He glared at her and continued, “If Dad and I hadn’t gotten back, you could have gotten into bigger trouble.”

Emily didn’t know what he was blaming her for. She stared at the furious Gale, the disappointed Andrew, the gloating Lucas, and the tearful Lydia, sneering.

She said, “I’m not really part of the Bennett family, so I understand y’all refuse to stand up for me. That was why I called the cops myself.

“I’m the victim here, so why does standing up for myself make me the bad guy to you? And even if I caused trouble, why the hell does it concern you?”

This was the part that made no sense to her. They were always blaming her for bringing shame to the Bennett family and saying she wasn’t one of them, yet they kept holding her down with that same family bond. That was not fair.

The Bennett family didn’t notice how much she wanted to be away from them. Andrew looked at her with a disappointed gaze and said, “Can you stop being sarcastic just for one time? Are you still mad at us for being indifferent?”

Clearly frustrated by Emily’s constant drama, he rubbed his forehead and said, “Stay home for now. I’ll hold a press conference soon to clear everything up. Will that make you happy?”

He sounded reluctant as if everything Emily did was just for attention and now they were finally willing to give her

some.

Lydia suddenly looked up in disbelief at Andrew, clearly shocked by what he said just now. She then glanced at Gale and Lucas, only to see the former calm and unopposed, and the latter smiling with excitement.

Lydia thought, ‘I have worked so hard to make the Bennett family despise Emily. There’s no way she’s coming back. She stepped forward quickly and feigned a smile. “That would be great.”

Her face lit with joy. “Emily, don’t you think it’s a great idea? Once you come back, we can live together again. I almost forgot how happy we all were the last time we got together.”

With an exaggerated pout, Lydia turned to Andrew, Lucas, and Gale. “We must love and take good care of Emily this time, so she won’t do stupid things out of jealousy over me. It’s all about attention, isn’t it?”
