Chapter 156

He thought, ‘Emily knows I’m awake, so there’s no way she wouldn’t come to see me. And Lydia just said all those things on purpose right in front of me, Emily must have been wronged.

While Charles was busy worrying about Emily, Lucas had already hurried Lydia off to find a doctor.

Because of Lydia’s so-called poor health, the Bennett Family had even arranged a personal doctor just for her.

The doctor said Lydia was simply worrying too much and just needed plenty of rest.

By the time Lydia woke up, Gale, Emma, and Andrew were all hovering anxiously by her bedside.

Emma’s eyes were red from crying. She said, “Oh, my poor Lydia, how did your face get so swollen?”

Gale’s face was dark with anger. He snapped, “That arrogant, overbearing attitude-Emily is definitely not one of the Bennett Family.”

It was clear they already knew who was responsible for Lydia’s condition.

Lucas sat off to the side, zoning out. Every time he saw everyone fussing over Lydia, he couldn’t stop his mind from drifting to the image of Emily, all alone.

When he called his family earlier, he mainly said Charles had woken up, just casually mentioning that Lydia had fainted from worrying too much, and that the doctor said she was fine.

But when the whole Bennett Family rushed to the hospital, they headed straight for this room and didn’t mention Charles

even once.

Lucas kept feeling like something was off, but seeing Lydia looking so weak and pitiful, he instinctively wondered if he was just imagining things.

Just then, Lydia called out to him, “Lucas, you don’t look so good. Did I scare you when I fainted?”

Suddenly, all Lucas’s worries melted away, and all he could feel was how touched he was by Lydia’s concern. He replied, “If you know I’m worried, then just get better soon. And from now on, you have to put your health first, okay?”

Lydia gave him a bright, happy smile and nodded sweetly. She said, “Okay, I’ll do as you say, Lucas.”

Seeing her like that, Andrew, who had been silent the whole time, reached out and affectionately patted her head. He said, “Don’t worry, Lydia. I promise I won’t let you be bullied for nothing.”

Andrew pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, and the glint in his eyes was just like when he was facing off against rivals in the business world. He turned to Lucas and asked, “Where’s Emily?”

Gale and Emma’s eyes also snapped to Lucas, looking like they were ready to confront Emily and settle the score with her right then and there.

Lydia, on the other hand, looked conflicted, as if she wanted to stop them but couldn’t figure out how to say it.

Lucas paused for a moment, only then realizing he’d forgotten to let Emily know. He quickly stood up and said, “I’ll call her over right now.” As he pulled out his phone, he hesitated-he didn’t even know how to contact Emily.

Under everyone’s confused stares, he didn’t know how to explain, so he just gave a little cough and said, “I’ll go find her.” With that, he hurried out of the room to look for Emily.
