Chapter53
“No worries, I was still eating at that time, so she didn’t really
interrupt my work,” Adelaide said with a light smile.
Abigail immediately grabbed her words and argued with her
father, “Dad, listen, I didn’t disturb her work!”
“Shut up!” Evan snapped at her, “Apologize to Ms. Pierce right
now.””
Abigail was afraid of her father, but didn’t want to leave a bad
impression in front of Reginald. So, she reluctantly stood up and
apologized, “Sorry, Ms. Pierce.“”
“No worries, it’s in the past.”
There were only five of them eating, Adelaide sat to the right of
Reginald, and to her right was Nathan. Both she and Nathan ate
quietly, only Reginald and Evan were talking.
As for Evan, he didn’t give her a chance to speak again, so she
just ate her food and openly admired her crush.
Until Reginald suddenly grabbed the turntable, the Eight
Treasure Duck stopped in front of Adelaide. He gently said,
“Duck meat, try it.”
Chapter 53
Abigail:”
Adelaide felt the hot gaze from across the table, very awkward, but couldn’t embarrass Reginald, so she quietly picked up her chopsticks and started to eat. “Thank you, Mr. Thorton.”
Reginald was finally satisfied and withdrew his hand, then naturally continued chatting with Evan.
At this moment, Evan suddenly shifted the conversation to Adelaide: “So, Ms. Pierce and Mr. Thorton were in Eldoria for a business trip to gather materials, huh? I can’t wait to see Ms.
Pierce’s initial design sketches.”
Adelaide smiled, “Don’t worry.”
Abigail caught on and couldn’t help but ask, “Dad, is she the architect who took on your latest construction project?!”
“Yeah.” Evan said impatiently, “Look at Ms. Pierce, so young and successful, learn from her instead of fooling around all day,
have some manners.”
Abigail blushed and said, “Old man, can you please give me
some face in public.”
“Did you give me face?”
”
Chapter53
It seemed like a father–daughter argument, but there was no
trace of anger. Adelaide watched with envy. In those few
distracted seconds, she thought, If I hadn’t been switched at
birth, I could have had a relationship like that with my father
too.
“I finished talking with Mr. Murray and then I said a few words
to Ms. Murray” Reginald suddenly spoke, catching Abigail off
guard and causing her to be filled with uncontrollable joy.
“What do you want to tell me?”
Adelaide suddenly realized that this kid seemed a bit slow.
Didn’t she hear that Reginald’s tone was off when he said that?
“Things like today, I don’t want to happen again. And, I already
have someone.”
Adelaide was coughing from his last sentence, and Nathan, as if
he had anticipated it, kindly handed her a glass of water.
