Chapter 99
“Let me check with the front desk first,” he suggested. ‘Make sure everything’s legitimate.”
The hotel lobby gleamed with marble and gold accents. The receptionist’s eyes widened when she recognized Kieran as Beta of Moonshade Pack. Then her gaze shifted to me, surprise registering on her face. Word of my identity reveal at the yacht party had clearly spread fast.
“How may I help you, Miss Ravencroft?” she asked, the name still sounding strange to my ears after years of hiding.
“Room 717,” I replied urgently, not bothering with pleasantries.
“Ah, yes. The presidential suite.” She tapped a few keys on her computer. “Take the elevators to the seventh floor, then turn right. It’s at the end of the hall.”
I thanked her and turned to Kieran. “I need to do this alone.”
He still looked unhappy but didn’t argue. “Just get Lyra and come back. Don’t engage with Alpha Tristan. You’ve told him the children aren’t his–you don’t owe him any explanations.”
With a deep breath, I headed for the elevators, ignoring the curious stares following me across the lobby. The ride to the seventh floor felt endless, my heart hammering against my ribs. When the doors finally opened, I stepped into a hushed hallway lined with plush carpet.
Room 717 loomed at the end of the corridor, its double doors more intimidating than they had any right to be. I hesitated outside, gathering my courage.
Lyra needs you, I reminded myself. Be strong for her.
My knock echoed in the silent hallway.
“Please be okay, Lyra,” I whispered as footsteps approached from inside.
The door swung open, revealing not Tristan but a uniformed staff member who stepped aside with a practiced bow. “Miss
Ravencroft.”
I stepped inside, heart in my throat. The door closed behind me with a soft click that somehow sounded final.
The first thing I saw was Lyra, sitting at a dining table, happily nibbling on what looked like a brownie. Relief flooded through me so powerfully my knees nearly buckled.
“Lyra!” I called out, my voice breaking.
“Why so rushed, Lysandra?”
That voice–that cold, familiar voice–stopped me in my tracks. Tristan reclined on a leather sofa across the suite, his posture deceptively casual, But the predatory intensity in his eyes was unmistakable.
Around him stood six men in black suits–Pack guards. But not just any guards. I recognized several faces from my territory.
“What the- I began, confusion momentarily overriding my fear.

Chapter 99
*Surprised to see your Pack’s guards betraying you? Tristan’s mouth curled into a cruel smile. “Money talks, sweetheart. Even to the most loyal wolves.”
The betrayal stung, but I pushed it aside. Nothing mattered right now except Lyra.
“Mommy? My daughter’s voice pulled my attention back where it belonged. Her green eyes widened with recognition and
relief.
I crouched down as she ran to me, wrapping my arms around her small body. She smelled like sugar and the faint pine scent of our territory–and beneath it, disturbingly, Tristan’s scent clung to her clothes.
“Are you okay, my little moonbeam?” I whispered, checking her quickly for injuries.
“I missed you, Mommy,‘ she replied, oblivious to the tension crackling through the room. “But the handsome Alpha uncle gave me lots of treats to eat!”
I shot a glare at Tristan over her head. “I told you not to take food from strangers, Lyra.”
“But he’s not a stranger,” she protested. “He’s my Wolf King Hero!”
My blood ran cold at her innocent words. What had Tristan told her? What stories had he fed my daughter in the short time he’d had her?
I stood, keeping a firm grip on Lyra’s hand. ”
leaving.”
I turned toward the door, but two of the guards moved to block our exit. My wolf surged forward, Astrid’s purple energy rushing to the surface as I instinctively positioned myself between the men and my daughter.
“Let us go,” I demanded, fighting to keep my voice steady.
“Going so soon?” Tristan approached with slow, deliberate steps, his Alpha aura expanding until it pressed against my skin like a physical weight. “Your daughter was lost, but when I help find her, you can’t even stay to say thank you?”
I lifted my chin, meeting his gaze directly. “Name your price, Alpha.”
He laughed, the sound devoid of humor. “What could you possibly offer me that I’d want, former Luna?”
“What do you want, then?” I hissed. “To sleep with me? Is that it?”
The room temperature seemed to drop several degrees as Tristan’s eyes narrowed. Without taking his gaze from mine, he addressed one of the guards. “Take the little girl to the other room. Don’t frighten her.”
The guard moved toward Lyra. I tightened my grip on my daughter’s hand, panic clawing up my throat. “No! Don’t you
dare-”
“They won’t harm her,” Tristan cut in, his voice deadly quiet. “If they tried, I’d tear their throats out myself.”
I expected Lyra to cling to me, terrified. Instead, she squeezed my hand and looked up with surprising calm. “It’s okay, Mommy. Alpha uncle just wants to talk to you. Talk to him, okay?”
