Chapter 81
“Ask your perfect girlfriend. She sent it to me. Why she’d want to disgust me is beyond understanding.”
“You’re sure it was her?”
“Please, who else would do something like this?”
His voice turned cold. “I don’t know what game you’re playing, but if you think this would get my
attention-
“Get your attention?” I cut him off. “Don’t flatter yourself! My interest in you died along with your conscience. But I won’t let anyone attack me with this kind of filth.”
“That video is obviously fake.”
“Oh, how surprising you can tell the difference. Too bad your judgment of people isn’t as accurate.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you choose to believe all Selene’s lies about me, yet you can’t see what she really is.”
I couldn’t help the bitter laugh that escaped me. “I must say, I’m impressed by your loyalty. Five years with your mistress–the same woman you cheated with during our marriage. Such devotion. You two still seem so passionate together.”
“Careful,” he growled. “At least I didn’t jump into bed with multiple men while still married. You were quick to replace me with both Kieran and Alaric, weren’t you? And let’s not forget those children you conceived while we were still legally bound.”
His accusation stung, but I refused to let him sense my pain. “Is that what you tell yourself to justify how quickly you moved on? That I was the unfaithful one? Your selective memory is fascinating.”
He paused, his voice dropping lower. “Have you forgotten I saved your life? You owe me an explanation at least.”
I gripped the phone tighter. “Thank you for saving my life, but that doesn’t entitle you to explanations about my personal life. I don’t owe you anything, Tristan. Our debts were settled when you rejected our mate bond.”
“Really? Then why did you hide away after leaving the hospital?”
“I wasn’t hiding. I have my own life, my own plans. They just don’t involve you anymore.”
“Listen, I’ll deal with this video situation.”

Chapter 81
“Whatever. Just consider this a warning to keep your girlfriend in check. Don’t let her come after me
again.”
“You care? Jealous? Don’t pretend you don’t know we still have a mate bond.”
“Instead of obsessing over the past, control your woman. Today is important to me, and I won’t let anyone ruin it.”
“What’s so special about today? Meeting that Alpha again?”
Before I could respond, Kieran leaned closer to the phone. “She doesn’t need to explain herself to you, Wolfbane.” His voice was deliberately casual, taunting. “But don’t worry, I’m taking good care of
her. We all are at Moonshade.”
I shot Kieran a warning look, but the damage was done. I could practically feel Tristan’s rage radiating through the phone.
“So the Beta speaks,” Tristan growled. “Tell me, do you enjoy playing second–best to Alaric? Or does
she let you have turns?”
Kieran’s eyes darkened dangerously. “Unlike you, I respect her. Maybe that’s why she chose to stay
with us rather than return to your territory.”
“Enough,” I cut in, wanting to end this testosterone–fueled exchange. “My life is no longer your concern, Tristan. Soon enough, you’ll see just how different I’ve become.”
“Whatever game you’re playing, Lysandra, remember one thing: you were once my Luna. I know every inch of you.”
“You never truly knew me, and that was your greatest failure. I’m not your Luna anymore, Alpha Tristan. But soon the whole world will know my true worth.”
I hung up, tossing my phone aside, my fingers still trembling slightly. Despite my outward composure, something twisted painfully in my chest.
I hated myself for the hot, sick feeling spreading through my stomach. This shouldn’t affect me. They’d been together for years. I knew they’d slept together countless times while I built my new
life.

But actually seeing it, hearing it, the way he whispered those intimate cut deeper than I
wanted to admit.
Kieran reached over and squeezed my hand. “You okay? I shouldn’t have jumped in like that.”
“Why did you?” I asked, genuinely curious.

Chapter 81
A slight smile played at his lips. Because the mighty Alpha Tristan deserved to know he’s not the only man who values you.” His expression softened. “And because I hate hearing him talk to you that way.”
“I can handle Tristan.”
“I know you can. But you don’t always have to handle things alone.” He studied my face. “Should we postpone today’s events?”
“No,” I took a deep breath, letting Astrid’s purple energy settle. “I won’t let anyone ruin today.*
Kieran handed me a water bottle. “Drink something.”
I accepted it, taking several sips of the cool liquid. Immediately, I felt Astrid calm down, my thoughts becoming clearer.
“Thank you, Kieran. For everything.”
“Why thank me?” His tone lightened, trying to ease the tension.
“For supporting me, helping the twins, giving Orion that idea.”
