Chapter 169
Lysandra’s Pov
My brain couldn’t process what my eyes were seeing. Alpha Kael our supposed ally–stond over my brother’s half–shifted form, have front with Alaric’s blood. A wioden stake pierced through my brother’s leg, pinning him to the ground like some trophy anthel
“No! The sound tore from my throat, a desperate cry lost in the chaos around us.
I bolted toward them, my purple paws tearing up earth and grass. Rage ignited every cell in my body. This betrayal sliced deeper than any blade. Alpha Kael had dined at our table, proposed an alliance with our pack, even asked for my hand in marriage all while plotting to murder my brother.
Three wolves intercepted me, forming a living barrier between me and Kael. Their teeth flashed in the moonlight as they snarled warnings. I didn’t slow down. Instead, I accelerated, crashing into the first wolf with enough force to send him flying. The second caught my flank with his teeth, pain lancing through me as I twisted away.
Through the tangle of fighting wolves, I spotted Alaric’s mangled form dragging itself across the ground. Blood trailed behind him in a dark smear. The sight of my proud, strong brother reduced to this broken state made something twist violently inside me.
Alaric, hold on!
I caught a flash of movement to my right–Kieran, locked in combat with Alpha Kael. His dark fur was matted with blood, but he fought with desperate ferocity. Kael held something in his hand that glinted in the moonlight–a knife or dagger. The sight of the weapon sent a chill down my spine.
I renewed my efforts to break through, but the wolves surrounding me seemed endless. For every one I knocked aside, two more appeared. Claws raked across my shoulder, teeth snapped at my throat. Pain bloomed across my body as multiple attackers found their mark.
A sudden weight crashed onto my back, sending me sprawling into the dirt. Teeth clamped around my neck, not yet breaking skin but threatening to crush my throat. I thrashed wildly, unable to dislodge my attacker.
Then, without warning, the pressure vanished. A blur of iron–gray fur sailed over me, crashing into the wolves that had me pinned. They scattered like leaves in a storm, yipping in terror at the sight of the massive newcomer.
Tristan.
His silver–streaked coat seemed to absorb the moonlight, giving him an otherworldly appearance. Blood still flowed from the wounds I’d inflicted earlier, yet he moved with deadly precision.
Get back to the manor, his deep voice commanded through our mental link.
I staggered to my feet, fur bristling with indignation. Are you insane? My brother is dying!
Before he could respond, the wolves I’d fought earlier regrouped, emboldened by their numbers. They launched themselves at Tristan, who met them with savage growls. Their teeth found purchase in his already wounded flesh, drawing pained groans from the Alpha.
I hesitated, torn between helping him and reaching my brother. For a split second, our eyes locked. What I saw there confused me–not anger or hatred, but determination and… something else I couldn’t name.
The realization hit me like a thunderbolt. What if Tristan and Alpha Kael were working together? What if this whole display was part of some
elaborate scheme?
They could be allies. They both want my brother dead. The thought crystallized in my mind, sharp and painful.
Without another glance at Tristan, I darted away, renewed purpose driving me toward Alpha Kael.

Chapter 169
Kieran had somehow managed to sink his teeth Into Kael’s arm, blond streaming from the wound for a moment eyes–until Kael’s other hand plunged downward, driving a wicked looking dagger into Kieran’s ribs.
A howl of anguish tore from my throat. The blade wasn’t just any weapon the purple liquid coating its edge could only be well belee poison to our kind.
Kieran’s grip on Kael’s arm loosened immediately. His body convulsed, legs buckling beneath him at the poison entered his system.
No! Not Kieran too!
I sprinted forward, ignoring the pain seating through my own wounds. Kieran might not be my mate in the way he wanted, but he was family. My children loved him. My brother trusted him. I couldn’t lose him too.
A wall of fur and muscle blocked my path–Alpha Kael’s Beta, his teeth bared in a threatening snarl. His eyes gleamed with satisfied cruelty, clearly enjoying the pain his Alpha had caused.
Something snapped inside me. All the fear, rage, and helplessness of the past weeks coalesced into pure, focused fury. I didn’t just attack the Beta–I became the attack itself.
My jaws locked around his throat with such force that blood immediately spurted between my teeth. Using strength I didn’t know I possessed, I lifted his entire body off the ground and slammed him repeatedly against the earth. Each impact sent shockwaves through my body, but I didn’t
stop.
The Beta’s struggles weakened, then ceased altogether. I released him only when I was certain he wouldn’t rise again.
Alpha Kael turned from where he’d been advancing on my brother, his attention drawn by the commotion of his Beta’s death. His eyes widened when they landed on my purple form, now clearly visible in the moonlight. At this distance, he could see me perfectly–the unusual color of my fur, the starlight shimmer that seemed to dance across it.
His throat bobbed as he swallowed nervously. “Who are you?”
