“I find it curious,” he continued as if I hadn’t spoken, ‘that immediately after securing an alliance with Crystalcrest, your brother arranges a private dinner with its Alpha. Quite intimate for a simple business celebration.

“What are you implying?”

“Strategy, Lysandra.” He began walking beside me as I moved toward the dining room. “Your brother rejected my superior proposal for a reason beyond simple revenge.”

I stopped abruptly, turning to face him. “Stop following me, Tristan.”

“I’m simply curious about your brother’s new ally,” he replied, a dangerous edge beneath his casual tone. After all, he chose Kael over me. I should at least introduce myself.”

“Stop this childish behavior,” I snapped. “You know exactly why he chose Alpha Kael.”

Tristan stepped closer, voice dropping. “Because this entire alliance competition was orchestrated specifically to humiliate me?”

Alpha Kael moved closer to me. “Is everything okay?”
