Rejected Luna Returns with Secret Twins (Lysandra) novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Tristan’s POV

The childish voice cut through the tension, momentarily distracting me from Lysandra. I turned to find a little girl with chestnut curls bouncing excitedly at the living room entrance. Her curious green eyesa perfect mirror of her mother’s- lit up when she spotted me.

Behind her stood a boy with dark hair who instantly straightened his small shoulders at the sight of me. His chin lifted slightly as he took deliberate steps, positioning himself directly between Lysandra and the girl. His tiny hands balled into fists as he adopted what I could only describe as a miniature Alpha stance.

Mommy, why is he here?the boy demanded, his voice childish but surprisingly firm.

My eyes narrowed, caught off guard by the hostility radiating from the little boy. Something about the protective way he stepped in front of Lysandra unsettled me deeply.

What the hell?

This should be the other way around. I should be the one glaring at him with suspicion. He wasn’t my blood. He was the

child she’d had with someone else.

What made this small boy harbor such intense hostility? Had Lysandra poisoned his mind against me? Did she tell her son

stories about the cruel exhusband who broke her heart?

My theory crumbled when Lysandra rushed toward her son, her expression mortified. Orion, don’t speak like that. He’s our

guest.

Mommy, I don’t like him,the boyOrionstated bluntly, his blue eyes never leaving mine.

I glared back, taken aback by his boldness. The boy’s gaze didn’t waver, even as Lysandra maneuvered him behind her. He peered around her legs, watching me with unflinching scrutiny.

A small hand tugged at my fingers, drawing my attention downward. The little girl had approached silently and now stood beside me, her delicate fingers wrapping around mine with unearned trust. My chest tightened uncomfortably at the

contact.

Look! Handsome uncle!she exclaimed, beaming up at me.

I glanced down, noticing a blue ribbon tied around her wrist with a tiny silver ice cream cone charm dangling from it. Recognition hit me like a punch to the gut. The charm I’d bought her that daythe day I’d believed she was mine.

I kept wearing it just like you said. It reminds me of the vanilla ice cream that day,she said, holding up her wrist proudly. You remember you promised to take me for strawberry next time, right?

I froze, unable to respond. Unwanted memories flooded backher little hand in mine, her de her onto my shoulders, the sticky vanilla ice cream that had somehow ended up on my expen. results flashed in my mind, like some cruel joke mocking my momentary happiness.

d squeals when I’d lifted suit. The DNA report

I jerked my hand away from hers, avoiding those innocent green eyes that once made me believe I had a daughter.

Lyra, go with Orion back to your room, Lysandra commanded, her voice tight with anxiety.

Lyra’s face fell, hurt and confusion washing over her features. Uncle, what’s wrong? Are you mad at me?

The tears welling in her eyes sent an unexpected pang through me. I clenched my fist, silently cursing myself. Damn it! 1

made her cry!

Without thinking, I crouched down to her level, wanting to fix the damage I’d caused.

What are you doing?Lysandra demanded, stepping forward protectively.
