Chapter 113
He wore a perfectly tailored charcoal suit that emphasized his broad shoulders, his dark hair slicked back with precision. Authority radiated from him without effort–that natural Alpha presence I’d once found so captivating. Now it just made my jaw clench.
‘Silverblood Pack’s Alpha is truly something else,” a female wolf whispered to her companion. “Not only does he lead one of the strongest packs, but his looks could kill.”
I rolled my eyes. His looks are all he has going for him. That’s why I lost my mind over him years ago. Beyond his appearance, there’s nothing worth keeping. Thank God I realized that and escaped that beast of a man.
Kieran noticed my expression hardening. “You okay?” he asked quietly.
I merely shook my head. It amazed me how Kieran could sense my discomfort so easily. His disdain for Tristan stemmed from his protective nature toward me–a warmth I hadn’t expected to find after fleeing Silverblood.
Watching the other pack representatives, I noted how they simultaneously craved connection with Silverblood while fearing direct interaction with its Alpha. Tristan’s reputation preceded him–the coldest Alpha in the territory wasn’t known for his approachability.
Serena appeared at my elbow, slightly out of breath. “Miss Ravencroft, Alpha Rowan wants to speak with you.”
“Where is he?” I asked, scanning the room.
She nodded toward the far corner where several Alphas had gathered. “Over there, with Alpha Liam and the others.”
“Let’s go,” Kieran suggested, his hand hovering near the small of my back without quite touching.
As we approached the group, a familiar scent hit me—spiced cedar and rain. My steps faltered briefly. Tristan was there too, standing beside Alpha Rowan. My wolf stirred uncomfortably beneath my skin, recognizing her former mate despite years of separation.
After this meeting, I need to visit Maelor, I decided. There must be a way to sever this connection completely.
I ignored Tristan’s presence completely, stepping forward to greet our host. “Alpha Rowan.”
“Miss Ravencroft,” he smiled, breaking away from his conversation. “I was just looking for you.”
Alpha Rowan studied me with sharp eyes. “Have you already met Alpha Tristan Wolfbane?”
“No,” I replied coolly. My flat dismissal raised eyebrows among the gathered Alphas, who clearly expected more deference toward a wolf of Tristan’s standing.
“Well then, let me introduce you,” Alpha Rowan said, gesturing between us. “This is Alpha Tristan, and this is–”
“The lost princess of Moonshade?” Tristan cut in, his voice smoother than I remembered. “Yes, I know her.”
Tristan extended his hand, his expression unreadable. “Pleasure to see you again, Lysandra Ravencroft.”
I had no choice but to accept his handshake. His fingers closed around mine, warm and firm–but I felt something strange,
a light scraping sensation against my wrist as I tried to pull away. He held on just a beat too long.

What the hell is wrong with him?
“I’ve heard quite a bit about you,” Tristan continued, his tone surprisingly light. ‘You’ve claimed every project I wanted these past few months. I thought meeting you would infuriate me, but seeing you now, I realize losing a few projects to someone like you is hardly worth my concern.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Alpha Tristan, it’s nice to meet you too. But I think you overestimate me, so please release my band
He loosened his grip, a faint smile playing at his lips. “Of course. You’re quite an admirable woman.”
