Chapter 77
Declan furrowed his brow. “Grandma, what do you mean by that?”
“Don’t you understand?” Audrey glared at him with anger, her voice cold. “I know all about you helping outsiders bully Phoebe. Who needs a husband like you, who only helps others, while ignoring your own wife?”
Declan’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Phoebe. “Did you tell Grandma about this?”

Audrey stepped in front of Phoebe, glaring at Declan. “You dare yell at me after hurting Phoebe? I warn you. Stay away from Phoebe. When we get back tomorrow, you will divorce her, and I will have the divorce papers sent to your office.”
“Grandma, enough,” Declan said, truly angry. He had never once considered divorcing Phoebe.
“I will sever ties with you,” Audrey added, before pulling Phoebe away.
After escorting Phoebe to her new room, Audrey looked at her with sympathy. “Pheebs, don’t worry. I won’t allow Declan to bully you anymore. After hearing about what happened today, I started thinking. Maybe you and he really are not suited for each other. He’s just not worthy of you.”
Phoebe hadn’t expected Audrey’s support, and her eyes started to well up. “Mrs. Richardson, thank you.”
“I should be thanking you,” Audrey replied. “If it weren’t for you, Declan wouldn’t have been able to stand up again. But he has poor taste and can’t see your worth. That’s his fault.”
Phoebe shook her head. “Mrs. Richardson, there’s no need to thank me. I did it willingly, and I’m truly grateful that you’re willing to help me.”
Although Phoebe’s relationship with Declan was bad, Audrey had always treated her well, and Phoebe didn’t want to create tension between herself and Audrey because of Declan.
“Let’s not be so polite,” Audrey said. “You’re tired today. Rest well, and I’ll head back now.”
“Okay.” Phoebe nodded.
After Audrey left Phoebe’s room, her expression turned cold.
If it hadn’t been for her sudden decision to check the surveillance footage to see what Phoebe and Declan were doing, she wouldn’t have seen Jennifer and Bianca trying to harm Phoebe, with Declan helping the two of them force Phoebe to apologize.
Audrey had just reached her room when she saw Declan standing coldly beside the door, clearly waiting for her.
She walked up to him and coldly stared into his eyes. “Do you understand where you went wrong?”
Declan’s lips were tightly pressed together as he looked at Audrey. “Grandma, you shouldn’t have agreed to help Phoebe.”
Before he could finish, Audrey slapped him across the face. “Declan, how did I raise you? I told you to treat Phoebe well, and this is how you treat her?”
The slap was delivered with full force, leaving a mark on Declan’s face.
His hands unconsciously clenched into fists, and a cold aura surrounded him.
Audrey looked at him with anger and disappointment in her eyes. “Who took care of you day and night, and found someone to treat your legs during the two years you were paralyzed?
“Do you really think Jennifer cares about you? If she really did, why wasn’t she by your side when you were at your lowest

Declan fell silent for a few seconds before speaking in a low voice. “Grandma, Jennie was abroad, and when she heard about my marriage to Phoebe, she refused to come back.”
“Since you know you’re married to Phoebe, why did you get involved with Jennifer when she came back?” Audrey asked.
Faced with Audrey’s questioning expression, Declan furrowed his brow. “I wasn’t involved with Jennie. Phoebe misunderstood.”
Audrey, furiously laughing, pointed at Declan. “Oh, so now you’re lying? If you weren’t involved with her, then why did you let her stay in the marital home? Why did you take her to all those events?”
Before Declan could respond, a muffled sound came from behind them.
