Chapter 19

Seeing Cora all worked up, Phoebe flashed a smile at her, trying to calm her down. “Even if I dodge him this time, he’ll just come up with another way to set me up. Might as well let him learn his lesson now.”
“He’s definitely sending you a tough client. What if you end up getting the short end of the stick?” Cora asked in a worried
tone.
Phoebe replied with a chuckle, “Trust me, okay? Just focus on your work.”
“I still don’t feel good about this. Take me with you when you meet the client,”
“Come on, if I can’t handle something this small on my own, what happens when real problems hit? The company would be doomed.”
Cora saw Pheobe wasn’t going to budge and finally relented. “Fine, but if anything goes sideways, promise me you’ll call me. Don’t try to handle it all alone.”
“Got it.”
Not long after Cora left, Adrian showed up with the contract. His eyes were filled with smug satisfaction as he said, “Ms. Greene, I’ll be waiting for you to come back with signatures on this.”
Phoebe glanced at him and said flatly, “Alright. If you’re done here, you can go now. I have work to do.”
A flash of anger crossed Adrian’s face before he scoffed and walked out. He couldn’t wait to see her make a fool of herself.
Phoebe skimmed through the contract, set up a meeting for the evening, and went back to work. By the time she clocked out, it was time to meet her client. She grabbed the contract and headed straight to the restaurant.
The moment she stepped into the private dining room, the man inside sprang to his feet with a grin. “Hey, Ms. Greene, please, have a seat.”
Felix Moore hadn’t expected Phoebe to be this stunning. Just looking at her made his heart itch. He couldn’t help pulling her into his arms and enjoying some good time with her. He mentally praised that Adrian had really done him a favor.
Thinking about what Adrian had hinted at over the phone, Felix could barely contain his excitement.
Phoebe took a seat two chairs away from him and said with a smile, “Mr. Moore, nice to meet you.”
Felix frowned at the distance between them. Not liking it one bit, he got up and plopped down right next to her, his beady eyes shamelessly glued to her breasts.
He waved his hand and said, “Oh, Ms. Greene, why so formal? We may not have met before, but that’s nothing a few drinks can’t fix. Just call me Felix. Think of me as an older brother.”
Phoebe barely held back a scoff. ‘Older brother? The guy is at least in his fifties, even older than Liam, with a face full of wrinkles when he smiles. He has the nerve to say that?‘
As Felix spoke, he reached out and grabbed Pheobe’s hand resting on the table.
A sharp cry echoed through the room a second later. “Ahhh! Let go! That hurts!”
Phoebe let go of his hand with a completely calm face and said, “Oops, I’m sorry, Mr. Moore. I just don’t like physical
contact with others.”
The words sounded polite, but her eyes were anything but.

Felix was fuming inside, but he forced a smile. His eyes flickered with calculation. He picked up the wine bottle that had already been opened and poured a glass for Phoebe, “How about this, Ms. Greene? Drink this, and we’ll forget about what just happened.”
Phoebe raised her eyebrows and smirked. “Mr. Moore, red wine is a bit boring, don’t you think? I’ll go ask the waiter to bring some brandy instead.”
As she stood up, ready to leave, Felix’s smile faded. He slammed the wine glass down with a loud thud and growled, “Ms. Greene, if this is your sincerity to talk about the deal, then I don’t think we need to discuss this any further
Phoebe had already seen through his little act. He had no intention of negotiating–he just wanted to use the deal as leverage to take advantage of her. Unfazed, she simply nodded. “Alright then, Mr. Moore. Enjoy your meal. I’m leaving
Felix just tried to pressure her into giving in, but he never expected her to just walk away without hesitation. He stood there dumbfounded for a moment before snapping back and rushing after her.
“Hey, stop,” he shouted. His voice was loud enough to draw attention.
Through the intricately carved wooden divider, a group of people dining nearby had a clear view of Pheobe and Felix.
Ian and his group came to the restaurant for dinner and were surprised to spot Phoebe.
