Phoebe considered that he had just saved her, and given her current physical condition, it wasn’t practical for her to cook for herself. She nodded. “I will stay here until I recover. Once I’m better, I’ll move back.”

Declan’s gaze grew colder, but he didn’t speak, clearly disagreeing with her decision.

“By the way, where is Felix now?” Phoebe asked.

“He’s dead,” Declan said.

Phoebe’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Declan. “You killed him?”

Declan explained, “No, he accidentally fell from the mountain while trying to escape. By the time we found him, his body was already unrecognizable, torn apart by wild animals”

Even if Felix hadn’t fallen, Declan wouldn’t have let him live.

Phoebe nodded. “He has a partner, Adrian.”

“After Felix died, Adrian, feeling guilty, turned himself in,” Declan said.

Then, a flash of suspicion crossed Declan’s eyes. “You’re just a small employee at Miracle Youth, so why would Felix and Adrian go through all this trouble to kidnap you?”

Phoebe bit her lip and lowered her eyes. “Because Adrian tried to sign a contract with Felix and asked me to help. Felix tried to rape me, and I fought him off. After that, he held a grudge, so he must have planned this kidnapping with Adrian.”

However, Declan’s suspicion didn’t lessen. “If it was just for that, wouldn’t it have been easier for Felix to have Adrian fire you from Miracle Youth? And why would Adrian need to be involved in kidnapping you?”

Phoebe rubbed her temples, frowning. “Did you forget that Cora and I are good friends? Even if Adrian wanted to fire me, Cora wouldn’t agree.

“As for why Felix involved Adrian, I don’t understand either. He’s just a madman. How am I supposed to guess what’s going on in his mind?”

Declan’s gaze deepened, but he didn’t press the issue further. “Rest well. I’ll work in the study. If you need anything, call me.”

“Okay,” Phoebe said.

After Declan left, Phoebe finally breathed a sigh of relief.

In the afternoon, Cora came to visit Phoebe.

When she saw Phoebe was recovering well, Cora finally relaxed.

“Do you know how scared I was when I heard about you being kidnapped? If something had happened to you, I swear I’d have skinned Adrian and Felix alive,” Cora said.

Phoebe smiled. “I’m fine, aren’t I? Stop overreacting.”

“You still dare to say I’m overreacting? Do you know that if it weren’t for Declan, you might have—” At this point, Cora’s eyes suddenly reddened, and she couldn’t finish her sentence.

“Alright, if you start crying, I’m not comforting you,” Phoebe said.

Cora rolled her eyes and retorted, “Who said I was going to cry?”

Cora wiped her tears and took a document out of her bag. “What are you going to do with this contract? If you hand it over to the police, Adrian will probably spend his whole life in prison.”

Phoebe paused for a moment, then spoke. “Destroy it. I don’t want anyone to know I’m the CEO of Miracle Youth

“You don’t want Declan to know, right? Afraid he’ll use it to take your assets” Cora asked.

Phoebe replied. “It’s probably him who’s afraid I’ll take his money. I’m about to divorce him, and I don’t want to complicate things.”

Upon thinking about Declan, a surge of vague emotions rose in Phoebe’s heart, making her frown involuntarily

Now that she knew he had saved her, she could clearly feel that her determination to divorce him was no longer as firm as it

once was.

Cora stayed a while longer before leaving with the contract.
