The assistant nodded and went out to eat.

After making sure they were alone in the hospital room, Victor took a bite and asked casually, “Skylar, aren’t you worried the person who tried to hurt you might take this chance to get away while you’re stuck here taking care of me?”

“She won’t get away. And don’t even think about leaving the hospital early. Just stay here,” Skylar said firmly. Then she took out her phone to call her parents and reassure them.

“We’re both fine. Yeah, got it. Take care, Mom and Dad,” said Skylar over the phone.

Skylar turned the camera during the video call to show both herself and Victor, letting her parents see for themselves that they were unharmed Only then did her parents finally hang up, visibly relieved.

After hanging up, Skylar cradled her phone and began attending to some light work tasks.

“What are you up to, Skylar?” Victor asked.

“Work,” Skylar replied.

Victor asked, “Skylar, you hungry?”

“I’m good. I’ve already eaten,” Skylar said.

Victor kept peppering her with questions and Skylar answered each one patiently, never showing the slightest hint of impatience.

Victor sighed inwardly, ‘I’m really losing my mind. How could I have been so quick to believe Freya and treat Skylar badly?

‘The more I get to know Skylar, the more I realize Freya completely played me.

‘Once I get back, I’m going to have a serious talk with Freya and get some real answers out of her.‘

Back at the set, the director had someone send out an update to reassure everyone they were safe.

The restless fans finally calmed down.

The crew got back to filming.

Elianna was completely distracted, spacing out repeatedly during the tasks.

The director noticed something was wrong, pulled her aside, and asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”

Elianna nodded, taking the cue. “Yeah, a little.”

The director let out a sigh. “Alright, go get some rest for now. If you’re really not feeling well, I’ll have someone take you to the hospital.”

“Thanks.” After a moment’s hesitation, Elianna asked tentatively, “When will Mr. Yates and Skylar be back?”

“Probably in a few days. Caden just had rib surgery and needs to stay in the hospital for observation,” said the director.

Elianna hesitated and then pressed cautiously, “Did they say anything to you?”

The director looked puzzled. “What do you mean?”

From the way he acted, Skylar must not have told him anything.

She covered her tracks so well. There was no way Skylar could know.

A weight was finally lifted off her shoulders, and Elianna breathed a sigh of relief.

When filming resumed that afternoon, she seemed much more composed.

After three days at the hospital with Victor, Skylar finally returned to the film set.

She had originally planned to have Victor stay behind to recover from surgery, while she went back herself to track down the person responsible.
