“Human nature is utterly despicable, Jade thought bitterly, recalling how caregivers would secretly abuse completely paralyzed patients when no one was watching.

Jade remembered with horror how some caregivers would take advantage of patients‘ helplessness when no one was watching. slapping and berating them at will, even forcing their own bodily waste into their

ouths.

At the thought of this, Jade burst into tears. “I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything. Please spare me!” she sobbed desperately.

“I know I was wrong, I really do!” Jade wailed, her voice choked with desperation.

Jade’s sobs were heartrending, yet not a single person present spared her an ounce of pity.

Skylar fixed Jade with a cold stare. “Speak.”

Jade sobbed, “I only ever contacted her through my cell phone, her number’s saved in there.”

Jade shook her head desperately. “I’ve never even met her in person, so I really have no idea what she looks like.”

Skylar narrowed her eyes menacingly. “You’d better not be lying to me.”

Jade raised a trembling hand and swore desperately, “If I’m lying, may lightning strike me dead! I swear on my life, I’m telling the truth!”

Skylar reached into Jade’s pocket, pulled out her phone, and ordered, “Chris, get her on the bed.”

Chris hauled Jade onto the bed.

Brada, curiosity written all over his face, stayed close to Skylar and asked, “Skylar, how are you planning to track this person down?”

All they had was a single phone number. He wondered how she could possibly track down the mastermind with just that. “Don’t worry, I’ll find them for sure.” Without another word, Skylar called Sophie and told her to bring a laptop. Sophie rushed the laptop to the hospital. “Ms. Lambert, the computer you requested.”

Skylar took the laptop and sat on the sofa in the hospital room, her fingers flying across the keyboard with such speed they became a blur.

Once again, Brada was blown away by Skylar. “Are you coding? You know how to do that too?”

Skylar didn’t spare him a glance, completely absorbed in her task.

Brada couldn’t help but exclaim, “My goodness, Skylar, you really are a treasure, the more I discover about you, the more amazed! am!”

His feelings for Skylar grew even stronger.

The more Brada looked at Skylar, the more captivating and dazzling she seemed, almost as if she were bathed in a divine glow. Brada couldn’t help but think she was absolutely radiant.

Brada gazed at her, utterly transfixed, not even blinking, his grin so wide it looked like it might wrap around his head.

Using the IP address linked to that phone number, Skylar quickly tracked down the mastermind’s whereabouts.

Skylar thought incredulously, ‘It’s from the Lambert family? So it’s Freya.

‘Freya has been unusually quiet these past few days. I actually believed she’d finally decided to behave herself.

Brada leaned in closer, eyes widening. “The Lambert family? Is it your place?”

“She’s always had it in for you, so now she’s trying to take you out like this?

“Just how vicious can someone get?”

Brada exploded in anger. “I won’t let him get away with this! Chris, call my father, tell him to send the security team. Now!”
