Freya covered her mouth, feigning concern. “Skylar, you know how we girls always have to watch out for those unspoken rules in business. If anyone ever takes advantage of you, make sure to tell us. Don’t try to tough it out alone.”

Although Phidon had been making quite a name for itself lately, it still couldn’t really compete with the major players in the industry.

Freya’s words made it obvious. She was insinuating that Skylar only landed the Campbell Group deal by sleeping her way to the top.

Skylar sneered, tilting her head, “So, you’re saying I slept my way to the top?”

Freya instantly panicked. Her eyes turned red, tears welling up but never quite falling. She put on a wounded look. “Skylar, how could you think about me like this?

“I was just concerned about you. Honestly, I didn’t mean anything else by it. Mom, Dad, I swear I didn’t.”

Yana looked at Freya with detached coolness. “Freya, your dad and I know exactly how capable Skylar is. Don’t make such insinuating remarks again.”

Carlos fell for Freya’s crocodile tears. He genuinely believed she was worried about Skylar.

Seeing Yana angrily scolding Freya, Carlos quickly stepped in to mediate, “Freya meant well. Maybe she just didn’t express herself clearly. Don’t be mad.”

“Freya,” Carlos said, “aren’t you going to apologize to your mom and Skylar?”

Taking the out he offered, Freya muttered, “Sorry, Mom. Sorry, Skylar. I must not have explained myself well. This is all my fault.”

Skylar watched her act in silence, offering no reply.

Adam’s little face twisted in disgust as he blurted out, “You hurt someone

and think just saying sorry is enough? It’s not that easy to let it slide.

“When Dad upsets me, he always makes it up to me with money or gifts.

“Aunt Freya, you’re a grown–up. How can you not even understand something so simple?

“Mommy, don’t be sad. I’ll take you on a shopping spree.”

Adam dug into the inner pocket of his little jacket and pulled out a black card. Patting his chest triumphantly, he declared, “I’m rich.”

Yosef gave him a whole bunch of cards, and he brought every single one.

He’d been waiting for a chance to take Skylar out on a shopping spree and buy her tons of stuff to make her super happy. He didn’t expect the chance

would come so soon.

Upon seeing the black card, Yana instantly recognized Adam’s identity. Her brows furrowed slightly.

Carlos chuckled, “Well, look at that. Adam is a little tycoon.”

With his chin lifted proudly, Adam declared, “I’m Mommy’s little tycoon.”

Adam’s innocent words sent Carlos into fits of laughter.

Skylar was tickled by his antics and laughed, “I know you’ve got plenty of money, sweetie, but I don’t need you to buy me anything. After all, you’re not the one who made me upset.”

Freya knew Skylar was referring to her. Biting her lip, she felt her blood boiling with rage.

Freya cursed Skylar over and over in her mind, gritting her teeth in suppressed fury.

She forced a tight smile. “It’s my fault. Just tell me what you want, Skylar. Consider it my peace offering.”

With a playful smile, Skylar said, “Just transfer three million to me directly, Freya. I’ll pick out whatever I want myself.”
