“Stay back! I’m warning you, don’t come any closer!” Jade’s voice shook as she raised her hand, the syringe glinting in her grip.

Jade thought desperately, ‘Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. Might as well go all out.

‘In for a penny, in for a pound. If I’m going down, I’m taking Skylar with me!

Jade’s eyes gleamed with malice as she gripped the syringe and lunged at Skylar. “If I can’t live decently,” she shrieked, “then neither can you! Burn in hell with me!”

“Stop!” Brada and Chris shouted at the same time.

Brada sprang from the bed, charging toward the commotion.

Chris shut his eyes and threw himself in front of Skylar.

Skylar shoved Chris aside, precisely seized Jade’s wrist, and wrenched it hard.

There was a sickening snap.

With a piercing scream, Jade’s face turned deathly pale as the syringe slipped from her grasp and clattered to the floor.

Chris steadied himself, then stood frozen in shock at the scene before him.

Brada’s jaw dropped in astonishment.

Skylar twisted Jade’s arm behind her back, rendering her completely immobile.

Jade spat, “Skylar, rot in hell!

“It’s all because of you! My father and I lost our jobs because of you! Look what you’ve reduced me to, I’m neither human nor ghost!”

After being dismissed from her position, Jade lost her job at Chestbee Hospital.

No matter where Jade applied for jobs, no one dared to hire her.

She couldn’t even land a job as a waitress.

Even her own father disowned her, forbidding her from ever contacting him again.

To put food on the table, Jade was forced to take on degrading work that made her skin crawl.

Jade thought bitterly, ‘I can’t take this anymore!

‘I want revenge. I want to kill Skylar, the one who caused all my suffering!‘

“I finally got my chance, but I couldn’t even scratch you!” Jade cried out in utter despair, her voice breaking. “How? How are you completely unharmed?”

‘This isn’t how it’s supposed to be… It’s not supposed to be like this… Jade thought, her mind on the verge of collapse.

Jade broke down in hysterical sobs, her whole body wracked with convulsive weeping.

Skylar felt no sympathy for Jade. However miserable her life was now, she had brought it all on herself, no one else was to blame

Skylar demanded, “Who put you up to this? Or are you acting alone?”

Jade sneered, her tear–streaked eyes burning with hatred. “No one made me do this. I want you dead, me, and me alone!

“Jade,” Skylar warned coldly, “you’d better tell the truth. Otherwise, I’ve got plenty of ways to make you talk.”

Skylar pressed a precise point on Jade’s body. Instantly, Jade’s limbs went limp and numb, her entire body sapped of all strength.
