Chris waved his hand urgently. “Ms. Lambert, forget about accountability for now. Just tell me, can the poison in Mr. Fleur be cured?”

“Absolutely,” Skylar said with firm assurance.

Hearing that it could be cured, Chris was overcome with emotion, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. “Thank God it can be cured… that’s all that matters, that’s all that matters…” he murmured, his voice thick with relief.

Suddenly remembering something, Chris bowed deeply to Skylar. “Ms. Lambert, I sincerely apologize for my earlier actions toward you.”

Skylar understood what he meant. She gave his elbow a reassuring squeeze and said softly, “Don’t worry, I’m not the vindictive

type.

“Brada is my friend. I’ll do everything in my power to save him.”

Skylar had never meant any harm, yet Chris had misjudged her noble intentions with his own petty suspicions. He felt deeply

ashamed of himself.

Chris burned with shame, his face flushing crimson.

“Later, I’ll need your help with something important,” she said.

Chris straightened up, composed himself, and said seriously, “Please go ahead, Ms. Lambert.”

Skylar lowered her voice and explained her plan to him. “This way, we’ll catch the mastermind behind all this.”

Chris’s eyes sparkled with awe. “Ms. Lambert, you’re a genius!”

Skylar chuckled. “You flatter me.”

Chris deliberately struck up conversations with several of the cleaning ladies, making sure word got around that when the police showed up, they found Brada unharmed and didn’t arrest Skylar.

Before long, the news had spread throughout the entire hospital.

Jade Lane, who had been lurking in the hospital eager to witness Skylar’s downfall, heard the news in shock. She nearly dropped the medical tray she was carrying.

She thought in disbelief, ‘I gave him a full dose of poison, he should be dead, or at least seriously injured. How the hell could he be completely unharmed?

‘Could it be that Skylar gave him the antidote?

‘Impossible! Skylar isn’t capable enough. That poison was bought from the black market, there’s no way she could have developed an antidote.’

Burning with curiosity, Jade held back/suspecting this might be a trap to lure her out.

‘How dare she act so unaffected, Jade fumed as she watched Skylar come and go from the ward as if nothing had happened.

After two days of anxious waiting, Jade clutched the remaining vial of poison in her hand and bit her lip nervously.

After carefully noting when the ward would be empty, Jade slipped inside under the guise of changing the sheets.

Brada lay there just like last time, appearing to be asleep. Jade couldn’t tell if he was getting better or worse. Is he really out, or just pretending?‘ she wondered.

Gathering her courage, Jade leaned in closer and whispered tentatively, “Sir?”

Whether the antidote worked or not, Skylar must die.

This time, she’d prepared enough poison to deliberately frame Skylar for murder.

Jade scanned the ward one last time to confirm she was alone then pulled the poison vial from her pocket.

Uncapping the vial, Jade drew the poisonous liquid into the syringe.
