Skylar took a closer look and finally recognized the two dirt streaked faces.

It was David and Rebecca. They were both dressed in ragged clothing, their faces smeared with some unknown grime, making them look Bithy and pitiful.

As soon as the two saw her, they cried even louder, then dropped to their knees and kowtowed before her.

There were other villas around the Lambert family’s residence, and the commotion quickly drew the attention of the neighbors.

With more people gathering, David and Rebecca wept harder.

David cried out in a pained voice, “Skylar, it was our fault. We shouldn’t have gone against you. Please, for the sake of the years we raised you, show us some mercy. Let us live!”

Onlookers started whispering to one another.

“What’s going on?”

“No idea.”

David turned toward the crowd and cried, “Everyone, we are Skylar’s adoptive parents. We raised her for years. We recently had a small conflict. She got upset and sent my biological daughter to a mental hospital to torment her. She also took over my company, trying to steal the business I poured my life into.”

He added, “I came here today just to beg her to have some compassion and let us off the hook for old time’s sake.”

Many of those present had seen reports about the conflicts between Skylar and the Stone family. Hearing David’s words brought those memories back into sharp focus.

Given all that the Stone family had done to Skylar, expecting forgiveness was delusional.

These were all elite residents. They saw through such acts easily and wouldn’t be fooled.

“You brought this on yourselves. You have no one to blame.”

“Exactly. Stop trying to guilt–trip her. Just because you’re pitiful doesn’t mean you’re right.”

“You should just go. Don’t humiliate yourselves any further.”

“Ms. Lambert is too kind. If it were me, I’d have had you both thrown in jail to let you feel what it’s like.”

Hearing the judgmental murmurs, David and Rebecca looked completely humiliated.

David roared, “What do you people know? If we hadn’t raised her all those years, she’d be dead. She owes us!”

Someone crossed their arms, clearly irritated. “You really have no shame. Get out of here, or I’ll call security to throw

you

out.”

But David and Rebecca wouldn’t leave. Their performance hadn’t hit its mark yet.

However, the Lambert family members had not shown up. Without them, this drama was pointless.

David shot Rebecca a look.

Then, Rebecca said loudly, “Since she doesn’t want us to live, then we might as well die!” With that, she rammed herself into the Lambert family’s gate.

The sudden move startled the security guards, who immediately called Carlos to come over.

Chapter 165

Skylar signaled the guards to open the gate and walked up to David, squatting in front of him.

When David reached out to push her away, she caught his hand mid air. “You want to lose that hand?”

Skylar said coldly, “Put her down.”

Skylar remained calm. “If you don’t let her go now, she really will die.”

But David clung tightly to Rebecca, refusing to let go.

David glared at Skylar and shouted, “Where are your biological parents? Call them here. How could they raise such a heartless daughter?”

“Who are you calling heartless?” Carlos’s cold voice cut through the chaos as he stepped out.

Yana stood beside him, face frosty. She took her daughter’s hand and gently patted her shoulder. “Don’t be afraid. We’re here now.”

Her parents stood like a shield against the storm, and warmth filled Skylar’s heart.

Freya stood silently behind them, a strange smile on her lips.

When David saw Carlos, he instinctively flinched at the man’s intimidating aura. But thinking of what Elianna had told him, he braced himself. “You’re Skylar’s birth father?”

Carlos silently pulled his daughter behind him. “And you must be David?”

He continued, “My daughter hadn’t returned home yet, and I heard you took care of her. We’re very grateful for your care“.” The sarcasm in his tone was

sharp.

David began, “Mr. Lambert, do you even know what kind of person your daughter

is? She’s conniving, worse than a snake.”

He added, “Back when she lived with us, she seduced my son, trying to become the young mistress of our house. She even poisoned my daughter, almost killing her!”

Skylar finally understood why the two of them had come here to make a scene. They wanted to ruin her reputation in front of her birth parents and make them reject her.

Unfortunately, they’d badly miscalculated.

“Oh no, Skylar. How could you do such a thing?” Freya stepped out, feigning disappointment. “The Stone family treated you well. How could you scheme against them like this?”

Carlos frowned. “Freya, your sister would never do that.”

Freya said timidly, “But Dad, Mrs. Stone tried to kill herself to prove her point. Their story doesn’t sound fake…”

David, cradling the bloodied Rebecca, sobbed. “Honey, we should’ve killed her the moment we found out she wasn’t our real daughter. Then none of this would’ve happened. The Stone family wouldn’t be ruined.”

freya’s eyes reddened. “Mom, Dad, what Skylar did this time really went too far.”

She continued, “I heard she tricked the Stone family and stole their company. That company was her adoptive father’s life’s work. It’s like she took his life from him.”

Carlos’s expression darkened. “Freya, enough.”
