Chapter 158
The gun pointed directly at Skylar. The others didn’t dare to act rashly and could only shout loudly to warn her,
“Get out of the way! Move!”
Skylar handed Adam over to the officers, then immediately turned to examine Yosef’s injuries.
Hearing the noise, she hadn’t yet reacted. When she turned her head, she saw the gun in Elianna’s hands.
Skylar’s eyes widened in shock, her mind going completely blank. Before she could react, Yosef tackled her to the ground, rolling them both out of harm’s way.
Elianna fired wildly at the ground. Everyone scrambled for cover.
An officer stealthily maneuvered behind Elianna, tackled her to the ground, and disarmed her.
Pinned to the ground, Elianna screamed hysterically, “Skylar, just dead already!”
She continued, “It’s all because of you, you bitch! I’ve suffered all these years. I’m the real daughter of the Stone family! I’m the one who should’ve grown up pampered like a princess!”
She stared hard in Skylar’s direction. “Bitch! It’s all you! If you hadn’t stolen everything from me, I wouldn’t have ended up like this!”
“I will kill you. I swear I will!” She burst into hysterical laughter, her eyes brimming with undisguised murderous intent.
Skylar quickly checked over Yosef. Seeing that he had no visible wounds, she let out a sigh of relief.
Then, she walked over to Elianna, who was still cursing nonstop, her insults growing uglier by the second. Skylar raised her hand and slapped her across the face.
Skylar said, “Our identities being switched wasn’t my choice. I was a victim toò. You’ve used that excuse all this time to scheme against me and harm me. Look at yourself. Didn’t you bring it all upon yourself?”
Her gaze was icy cold. “You can’t blame anyone else.”
Elianna shouted in agitation, “It’s you! All of it is because of you! All my misfortune is your fault!”
No matter what was said, Elianna refused to listen. People like her weren’t worth wasting words on. Skylar gave a cold snort and ignored her.
The officers hauled Elianna away.
Yosef and Skylar brought Adam to Chestbee Hospital, while the others went to the police station to assist with the aftermath.
Skylar gave Adam a thorough examination and discovered that he had only inhaled a large amount of sedative gas, which caused him to fall into a coma.
He wasn’t in any life–threatening danger and was sleeping peacefully. Once the drug wore off, he would wake up.
After finishing the check, she glanced at Yosef. “Do you feel anything wrong with your body?”
There had been too many people at the scene, and it wasn’t convenient to undress for a full check. She had only taken a quick look and found no obvious bleeding wounds.
But she couldn’t rule out hidden injuries.
“I’m fine.” Yosef subtly tried to hide his hand behind his back..
Skylar stared at his hand. “What’s wrong with your hand?”
