It had been a moment of weakness—she’d lost her head and chosen the wrong path.
“I know you can help me—really, I just made a stupid mistake.” Millie took a deep breath, her voice trembling. “I never thought things would spiral out of control like this. I just wanted to win, to make you proud—not embarrass you.”
For the first time, Millie looked utterly humbled, her eyes pleading.
“Alex, everyone makes mistakes. I shouldn’t have… Please, help me. Please.”
She played her last card. “If Alistair were still here, he’d help me too…”
She invoked Alistair’s name, hoping it would move him.
Alexander’s gaze remained calm and steady, watching her quietly from start to finish. He was unmoved by her despair.
“He’d help, yes,” Alexander finally said, his tone even. “And so will I.”
He lifted his wrist and checked his watch. “Tomorrow, I’ll have someone come get you. We’ll talk.”
Those words seemed to lift a weight from Millie’s chest, though uncertainty still flickered in her eyes as she looked at him, not quite daring to believe it.
“Really…?”
Alexander nodded. “Yes. Someone will help you tomorrow.”
And with that, he turned and walked inside, leaving her standing there.
For the first time, Millie felt a bit of hope. Alexander had no reason to lie. He was a man of his word, the type who didn’t joke about things like this. Especially now, when every second counted.
And she’d already invoked Alistair’s and Raffy’s names—he wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

The morning after the heavy rain.
A gray mist still lingered over the city.
Danielle was up early. After making breakfast, she headed straight to the hospital.
Nathan looked up as she entered. “You’re here early.”
His eyes fell on the breakfast she carried. “It’s been ages since I’ve had your cooking. When I was abroad, I missed it all the time.”
Danielle unpacked the food. “How’s your shoulder feeling today?” she asked, genuine concern in her voice.
After all, Nathan had been injured saving her.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
