Millie listened to her mother’s words, feeling a cold numbness seep through every inch of her body.
The relentless rain poured down, soaking her to the bone, leaving her shivering in the darkness.
She refused to believe that Alexander had truly given up on her.
Biting her lower lip so hard she nearly drew blood, Millie stayed silent.
There had to be a way out of this. There was always a solution.
She’d always been lucky—fortune’s favorite, blessed by fate.
On the other end of the line, Leanne heard only silence, offering no comfort.
“I’ve already found someone who might help,” Leanne finally said. “Bianca says there’s a way.”
At those words, hope flickered in Millie’s eyes.
“She’s willing to help me?”
“Yes,” Leanne replied. “Bianca has a plan to help you start over.”
Bianca had spent years grooming Raffy as the next head of the Davidson family. But with just a few words, Danielle had destroyed everything.
Bianca had invested her heart and soul; she wouldn’t give up so easily.
If Millie could prove herself again, maybe Bianca really would step in. After all, finding and raising a true heir was no small feat.
“Raffy is your last bargaining chip,” Leanne continued. “If you get a chance to see Alexander, take it. If you want to be the future lady of the Davidsons, you have to marry him.”
“His opinion of you is everything now.”
Leanne’s voice was sharp and deliberate. “You’ve already lowered yourself, waiting at his doorstep. He won’t even look at you.”
“But the worse things get, the more you need to show him how desperate you are.”
“Men always fall for the damsel in distress. Just play the part—act soft, let him see your tears—and he’ll give you anything you want.”
Millie knew all this, of course.
But—
Alexander was never like other men.
He seemed immune to beauty and charm.
No matter how she tried—subtle glances, careful gestures—it always ended in failure.
That was what frustrated her the most.
Deep down, she understood that the more Alexander cared, the more he kept his distance. The women he cherished, he never touched lightly.
He hadn’t seen her in days.
There had to be a reason.
Bianca had refused her at first, but now she’d relented. That could only mean Alexander was working behind the scenes, pulling strings for her.
So Millie stayed, standing in the pouring rain, refusing to give up.
She was certain Alexander would come home tonight.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
