Millie fixed her gaze on Danielle, her voice cool and sharp. “I finally understand why Alex never liked you all these years,” she said. “It’s because you’re always so naive. So naive, in fact, that it’s become downright foolish.”
“This world isn’t just black or white. Every bit of scheming, every struggle for power—it’s all just a game. The only one who gets to laugh at the end is the winner.”
In the upper echelons, the capable rise, the foolish fall away.
What good does it do to be a diligent, pure-hearted ‘good person’? After all these years as Mrs. Davidson, is it really acceptable to still end up with nothing?
She let out a cold, dismissive laugh. Leaving those words hanging in the air, she turned and stalked out—her disdain for Danielle plain as day.
Millie carried her pride deep inside. She saw everything for what it was.
Alexander would never abandon Raffy. And as Raffy’s biological mother, she knew Alexander would never turn his back on her either. Even if he didn’t love her, he’d still take care of her.
But now, things were different—because Alexander did love her. Whenever there was a choice to be made, he would always choose her.
Danielle never stood a chance.
No matter the situation, Alexander would protect her. Danielle, caught up in all this, would always be the loser, always the fool.
—
Danielle watched Millie’s retreating figure, her expression icy.
This was the first time the mask had truly slipped between them—their conversation openly hostile. Millie had never outright admitted to kidnapping Niki, but her words made it all too clear.
It was enough for Danielle to understand: as long as Millie existed, Niki would never be safe.
Her face stony, Danielle left the conference room.
Gian spotted her immediately and hurried over. “Did you get anything out of her?”
He hadn’t expected their conversation to be pleasant—not between the two of them.
“Gian.” Danielle’s eyes were clear and resolute as she looked at him. “Some things, I’ll have to fight for myself. And some people—I’ll have to deal with on my own.”
She wasn’t going to sit back and wait for disaster anymore.
Now that she’d heard the truth, her target was firmly in her sights. She’d gone into that conversation with Millie already knowing she’d have to eliminate the threat, root and branch.
Gian, as always, offered her his unwavering support.
He nodded slightly. “Whatever you need from me, just say the word.”
That was the bedrock of strength he gave her.
“Whatever you decide to do, I’m with you,” he added, his eyes dark and steady on hers. “I’ve told you before—if you don’t deal with Millie, she’ll cause a catastrophe one day.”
Sometimes you could keep your head down, mind your own business, and still trouble would come knocking.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
