Alexander’s expression didn’t flicker, not even a hint of emotion in his eyes.
He simply looked at Danielle and offered a faint, almost amused smile. “You won’t be satisfied unless she ends up behind bars.”
“Your anger at her—it’s because of me,” he said quietly. “Do you hate me?”
Danielle met his gaze, her brow knitting in frustration.
Alexander continued, his voice slow and deliberate, laying everything bare. “If sending her to prison is what it takes for you to feel better, then what about me? How far does your anger go? Do you want me gone too? Would my death finally satisfy you?”
Danielle lowered her eyes, her face tight.
She couldn’t quite read his tone, couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic, sincere, or something else entirely.
She hated having this conversation, hated how every word out of his mouth seemed to twist the knife a little deeper, as if he was holding his own life hostage.
As if, with a single word from her, he’d just up and die.
If her word truly carried that much weight, would she have spent those years suffering as she did?
A bitter laugh escaped her lips. “Then go ahead. Die, if you want.”
What more was there to say?
His life or death had nothing to do with her anymore.
And that single sentence—cold and final—made it clear: there was nothing left between them to talk about.
But Alexander, ever the relentless negotiator, refused to let her walk away. He doggedly kept her trapped in this endless loop, refusing to let the conversation end until she gave him a definitive answer—what would it take for her to let Millie go?
All those generous offers he laid on the table, she realized, were just tests, meant to probe her boundaries.
“I already answered this,” he said, holding her gaze. “Newsworld. Is that enough? I’ll step down—I’ll give it all up. Would that make you happy?”
Danielle hadn’t wanted to keep talking.
To her, the subject was pointless—there was nothing left to discuss.
But with that one sentence, Alexander managed to shake her, just a little.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
