Once, in order to help Raymond close a business deal, she went an entire day and night without eating. Right when she was about to collapse from hunger, someone gave her shrimp in a rush. She had a severe allergic reaction and was rushed to the hospital, nearly losing her life.

Back then, Raymond cried so hard his eyes turned red. He gripped her hand tightly, afraid she might slip away. He promised that he would never let her suffer like that again.

But now…

It didn’t matter anymore. In just four days, she would be gone for good. Whether Raymond remembered or not didn’t change anything.

Raymond seemed to sense that something was off with her. He set the oatmeal aside with a frown.

“You’ve been acting strange since last night. Are you just worn out? My friend is throwing a party on a cruise ship today. I’ll take you there to relax.”

Valerie wanted to turn him down, but he didn’t give her the chance. That evening, he brought her to the cruise party.

As soon as she stepped onto the cruise, Valerie spotted Kaylani in a white dress, standing by the railing and gazing at the ocean.

dresses. How come she’s not wearing one today?”

His voice dripped with smugness.

That’s when Valerie realized why Raymond hadn’t insisted she wear white today. It was because his beloved crush had shown up in person.

Raymond scowled and snapped at Kaylani, clearly annoyed, “What does that have to do with you? Quit trying to act so friendly with me.”

His friends jumped in too, saying, “You looked down on Raymond because he was an illegitimate son, then ran off with another man. What gives you the right to come back now? Leave right away!”

Kaylani’s face lost all color, and with tears in her eyes, she turned and ran off.

Someone looked uncomfortable and said to Valerie, “Sorry, Valerie. I had no idea Kaylani would shamelessly follow us here. I swear Raymond only loves you, just act like she’s not even here.”

Valerie laughed coldly in her heart. If she hadn’t overheard their secret talk with Raymond, she might’ve fallen for their lies.

After all, this cruise is heavily guarded. You can’t get on board unless the owner agrees. No matter how connected Kaylani is, she couldn’t be here without permission.
