Chapter 23
When Valerie woke up again, she found herself lying in the hospital
room.
She saw Jasper standing by her side at a glance. He seemed to have been guarding here all night and had fallen asleep leaning against her sickbed.
It seemed that he noticed something unusual, so he slowly opened his eyes. When his eyes met Valerie’s, they instantly lit up and he exclaimed excitedly, “Valerie, you’re finally awake.”
Valerie nodded, her gaze falling on the leg covered in plaster, and said gratefully, “Thank you, you saved me once again.”
Jasper shook his head, his deep eyes filled with apology.
“You should scold me, as your bodyguard, I failed to protect you. It’s all my fault. If I had rushed in earlier, you wouldn’t have to suffer like
this.”
As he spoke, he started to turn red and his eyes were filled with fear.
Valerie’s heart tightened as she rubbed the man’s head and comforted him, “It’s okay, you don’t need to blame yourself like this. But how did Kristian manage to take me away when you were clearly outside guarding?”
Jasper told her that Kristian had installed a secret door in that private room, and it was through that door that he had taken her away. The

secret door was very well hidden, and it took him a while to find it. However, he had already sent someone to destroy the secret door, and even beat up the restaurant owner because he had allowed Kristian to
do such a thing.
Valerie didn’t expect Kristian to be so cruel. She was angry and a little scared. When she jumped out of that room, she roughly observed the surroundings of the place.
It was an abandoned factory, surrounded by desolation, it was hard to imagine what the scene would be like if she had been kept there by Raymond all the time.
Valerie wanted to say something else, but her stomach suddenly growled. She awkwardly covered her stomach and smiled at Jasper, saying, “I’m a little hungry. Can you help me find something to eat?”
Jasper nodded and said a sentence to her before leaving the ward.
Valerie closed her eyes to rest, when suddenly her phone on the bedside table vibrated a few times. She picked it up and saw another text message from an unknown number.
“Valerie, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pressured you. Please don’t be angry, okay? I won’t treat you like that in the future.’

“But I still love you, I can’t live without you. Can you give me a chance to start over and pursue you again?”
Receiving another text from Raymond, Valerie felt a chill down her spine and quickly pulled out the SIM card from her phone and threw it into the trash can.

She now feels extremely terrified whenever she thinks of Raymond’s face, and she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore.
After a while, the door was opened and Jasper walked in with food. He keenly noticed the phone card in the trash can, paused for a moment, and asked tentatively, “Is this your phone card?”
