Walter offered a small smile. "I'm currently the lead attorney for the Holden Group's legal team. Natalie and Mr. Holden asked me to take care of everything on your behalf and to follow up on your personal situation.
"Mr. Walker, everything's been cleared. You're free to come with me. While you're living outside, you must obey the law at all times. If anything comes up, you need to inform me immediately.
"Although you and Natalie had your differences in the past, she told me that you're still her older brother. All misunderstandings have been resolved, and everything is behind you. You're still young, and there's a bright future ahead. She's willing to reconcile."
Sky's eyes reddened in an instant. "I thought… I thought she would never forgive me."
"Come, Mr. Walker. Let's go." Walter took the lead and walked toward the exit.
Sky quickly followed. "Mr. Watson, I know who you are. You were the childhood friend Nat chose from the orphanage, weren't you? You practically grew up with her."
"It would be best not to use the phrase 'childhood friend' around Mr. Holden," Walter reminded him.
"Natalie and Mr. Holden are now married. I'm just her good friend and a Holden Group employee. To avoid misunderstandings or unnecessary jealousy, I'd suggest staying away from such wording in the future.
"Like everyone else, I only hope Natalie finds happiness. She and I are the closest of friends. That will never change."
Sky understood the meaning behind Walter's words and gave a small nod. "I'm sorry. That was poorly phrased. I'm just surprised to see you working at the Holden Group."
"It was Mr. Holden who invited me," Walter said with a slightly helpless smile. Marcus had essentially brought him under his watch, all while showering Natalie with affection in front of him.
But the offer had been too generous to refuse.
Since he and Natalie had no future together, Walter had long since buried any feelings he had for her. Whatever little hope he once had never had the chance to bloom.
"Come along, Mr. Walker."
The two of them exited the prison. Walter opened the car door and let Sky in.
He was still wearing the black suit he had on when he first entered the prison. His buzz cut gave him a sharper appearance, cleaner and more composed than before.
But his entire demeanor had changed. He no longer carried the arrogance he once had. Instead, there was a quiet humility in his presence.
Walter drove him toward the Walker residence.
"Mr. and Mrs. Walker aren't aware that you're coming home today, so they likely haven't prepared any sort of welcome. I'll let Natalie know now. She and Mr. Holden are traveling and might not be back for a while," Walter explained as he parked a short distance from the estate gate.
"May I ask, when did Natalie ask you to take over my case?" Sky asked as he looked at the familiar estate in the distance, his eyes already glistening with tears. He had thought she would always resent him, that she would never forgive him.
"It was quite early," Walter said after a brief moment of thought. "I believe it was your third month in prison. She asked me to keep an eye on your case and see how you were doing inside. She wanted to make sure your reform was genuine. That you truly regretted your past.
"Of course, it wasn't like she could get you released immediately. We're not miracle workers. If you want to thank someone, thank yourself."
Sky's eyes grew wet again. He wanted to say something, but in the end, all he did was nod. "Still, thank you. And thank her."
"I'll give Natalie a call," Walter said, dialing her number. The call was answered quickly.
"Hello, Walter."
"Natalie, I've picked up your brother. We're near the Walker residence. Would you like me to inform your parents?"
"I'll call them. They don't know yet. But once they hear, I'm sure they'll be happy."

This one gets us readers asking for more! Excellent story, great twists......
Hope Grandpa Charles lives long enough to see Marcus and Nat's children, please. It will make him happy to see life is still worth living and that he didn't fail raising Marcus at least. Let him be happy at least in this aspect. Thanks...
Finished till 538....Waiting for more...
This really hurts. I am confused if Yvette sent a msg saying old love to Charles through Charlene. Why isnt it in her confession. Or did she actually set vivian up into sleeping with that man? And later blackmailed vivian with it till vivian commited suicide? Did Yvetty yhinks Charles would marry her after vivians death but he remained loyal. Hence her anger?...
Hope Nat can cure Marcus' mom. Looking forward to new updates. Thank you...
