Maggie took one look at Samuel's stunned expression and saw right through him. He was a hypocrite. Even a housekeeper like her could tell who the real victim was here, and who was truly to blame.
Yet, Samuel had the nerve to stand there acting like some kind of saint, saying he didn't mind what happened to Sierra, like he was doing her a huge favor just by tolerating her.
Men like him were the worst. They said they didn't mind, acted all magnanimous in the moment—but the second a fight broke out, they'd use it like a weapon and throw it in her face like it was her shame to carry.
She finally understood why Sierra refused to see Samuel ever again. With a man like this? If he were her son, she'd beat the crap out of him herself.
Of course, she didn't dare say any of that out loud. Instead, she kept her tone even as she said, "Mr. Sinclair, men are physically stronger than women. If a man forces himself on a woman, there's no way she can fight back.
"And what a woman suffers in those moments is not just physical. The psychological trauma is immeasurable.
"And if her own family doesn't comfort or support her, but instead throws insults or says things like, 'I don't mind'—like she should be grateful—then she should never, ever stay with a man like that."
Maggie was on a roll now. She added, "Because men like that are cowards and selfish to the core."
She didn't even bother to glance at Samuel's increasingly sour expression. "Let's just be brutally honest here. Plenty of women have taken back cheating husbands.
"But how many men can truly accept a woman who's been with another man, especially in a situation where it wasn't her choice?
"Some men are just disgusting. They go around doing whatever they want, but demand their women stay pure and untouched.
"Where do they get the nerve? You'd think the world revolves around them. That without them, Earth would just stop spinning.
"And just because they've got a little extra muscle, that gives them the right to judge? Frankly speaking, a lot of them don't even know what to do with it. And they still dare to act like they're superior."
"That's enough," Samuel snapped. "Maggie, I hired you to work, not to gossip."
"But Mr. Sinclair, you're the one who asked me," Maggie shot back. "I'm just answering your question. Am I not allowed to have an opinion?"
"And let's go back to what I was saying earlier," she continued, not waiting for a reply.
"My son isn't rich or powerful, but he loves his wife. Whenever she goes out, he drives her. He'd never let her walk alone at night. And even when they argue, he never lets her storm off on her own. If anything ever happened to her—God forbid she were assaulted or hurt—my son would blame himself, not her.
"What kind of man lets something like that happen to his wife and then blames her? Or worse—acts like staying with her afterward makes him some kind of hero?
"Any man who thinks like that doesn't deserve a wife. He deserves to grow old alone, be miserable, and be forgotten. Anyway, I'm done talking. I've got work to do."
Maggie walked over and took her phone straight from Samuel's hand before he could blow up again, then darted into the kitchen. Once she was safely hidden, she quickly messaged Sierra.

This one gets us readers asking for more! Excellent story, great twists......
Hope Grandpa Charles lives long enough to see Marcus and Nat's children, please. It will make him happy to see life is still worth living and that he didn't fail raising Marcus at least. Let him be happy at least in this aspect. Thanks...
Finished till 538....Waiting for more...
This really hurts. I am confused if Yvette sent a msg saying old love to Charles through Charlene. Why isnt it in her confession. Or did she actually set vivian up into sleeping with that man? And later blackmailed vivian with it till vivian commited suicide? Did Yvetty yhinks Charles would marry her after vivians death but he remained loyal. Hence her anger?...
Hope Nat can cure Marcus' mom. Looking forward to new updates. Thank you...
