“Alpha Mason, I never pegged you for a club lover. I thought you weren’t into women,” Mason’s friend teased with a grin.
Laughter rippled through the room, careless of the humans mingling with the werewolf waitresses.
Many patrons at Vetro Club were werewolves, and after a while, the employees learned to accept their presence as normal.
Werewolves had little fear of exposure or hunters–Gabbs bordered the forest, making concealment easier, and all had legal identities within human society. Hunters risked trouble if they harmed them.
Mason paid no mind to the jibes. He took Georgia’s hand and left room two swiftly.
He pushed open another door, leading her into an empty room–number six.
“Why are you bringing me here?” Georgia asked warily.
Nerves prickled under her skin. She wanted to escape anyone who unsettled her.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going,” she added hastily, limping on sore legs.

Her panic surged. She struggled to escape.
“Where do you think you’re going? I hate disobedient toys,” Mason murmured.
Her breath quickened.

Her eyes widened with terror.
“No! Please don’t lock me up! I swear I won’t disobey again!” Her voice cracked as she begged.
Mason staggered, caught off guard by her desperate flailing.
Then his gentleness vanished, replaced by a harsh glare. Grabbing her arms, he hissed, “Are you crazy?”
“Go away! Help! I know I was wrong!” she shrieked.
Mason flicked on the light, the harsh glow revealing her wild, frantic eyes.
Annoyance crept into his tone as he gripped her hand. “Stop this madness, woman!”
He studied her face–empty, wild, lost.
What’s wrong with this woman? he wondered.
Gradually, Georgia’s muttering ceased, her breaths evening out.
