Lochlan’s POV
In the heat of the moment, a surge of anger coursed through my veins as I confronted my Beta about his disrespectful treatment towards Catarina. My voice carried a low growl as I locked eyes with him, throwing a warning look his way. How could he disregard the years of loyalty and dedication she had shown our pack?
Yet, instead of showing remorse or understanding, David let out a callous laughter, dismissing my concerns as if they were inconsequential. The audacity of his actions surprised me, for he had never displayed such blatant disregard for my authority.
"She shot me," he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. "She abandoned her pack and left you weak. And let's not forget, she ran off with your heirs, keeping them away from their true family. Why should I have any respect for her? She is no longer worthy of being our Luna."
His words pierced through me like a dagger, stirring a mix of emotions within. Yes, Catarina had made choices that broke my heart, decisions that seemed to go against everything we had built. Yet, beneath the anger, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of understanding. I knew deep down that she had acted out of what she believed was necessary for herself and our children. I had been the one who had betrayed her, caused her to leave. It was my fault. Catarina had not done anything wrong.
The tension escalated further as David mentioned Tara, the witch who I had slept with. I was glad she was dead, I hated myself and her for allowing this affair to happen. I had lost everything because of my own selfishness and greed. But I refused to let his words define me. I stood tall; my voice steady as I addressed my misguided Beta.
"You may not see it, but Catarina has shown loyalty and strength when we needed it most. Her actions were not without reason, and she deserves more respect than you are offering."
I glanced at Catarina who was standing there silent for a few moments as this conversation between me and David escalated. A bitter laughter escaped David's lips once more as he took a step closer, his eyes narrowed with disdain.
In an instant, the guards surged forward, catching David off guard. He was tackled to the ground with a resounding thud, followed by a chorus of growls, marking the end of his misguided rebellion.
His face darkened, his voice dripping with venom. "You think you can just kick me out? I have been loyal to this pack for years, and now you discard me like garbage?" He was dragged away by the two guards leaving me and Catarina alone.
As the chaos settled, I felt a mix of relief and determination. I knew that I had taken a stand against disrespect and betrayal. I was ready to face the consequences of my own past mistakes and help Catarina find Alex.
"Now let me help you find Alex. I have a feeling I know where he may be." I said to Catarina. She looked unsure but agreed since she had not much other choice.
