Alex’s POV
This woman was Tara, the one who Cat had walked in on with her mate. She was the one he had been sleeping with, the one who tore my precious queen in two, made her run from everything she knew and loved. How could anyone do such a disgusting thing? She was pregnant and unconscious. As much as I wanted to turf her out, it wasn’t on my nature to be so cruel where an innocent and unborn child was concerned.
Cat walked away with her head held high and not a tear in sight. She was strong despite all the hurt and turmoil that she had been through.
Lochlan was going to remain locked up but having this Tara turn up on the doorstep made things slightly more complicated. I was not about to allow my mate and the twins down when they were all excited for our short break.
I would have to call an emergency meeting with Carl and my other trusted colleagues. They would ensure this woman was not unsupervised at any time. She would remain in the hospital away from other patients. Once she had regained consciousness she would be questioned. There were many questions that she needed to answer. Not just from me. I knew Cat would have plenty to say to this female.
"Give me an hour to sort this. We are not going to let the twins down so don’t worry." I told Cat. She shrugged her shoulders and went off to find the twins and Mindy.
Walking back to my office, I hoped that everything would be sorted in time. As I sat at my desk, making the necessary calls to set up the emergency meeting. I needed to gather my team and discuss the protocol for handling Tara, both for her own safety and the safety of those involved. As I dialled Carl's number, my mind was filled with a mix of anger, frustration, and concern for Cat and the unborn child.
"Alex, what's going on?" Carl's voice was filled with curiosity and urgency.
"Carl, we have a situation," I began, briefly explaining what had transpired and the arrival of Tara. "We need to come up with a plan to ensure Tara remains under strict supervision while also addressing the emotional impact this has on Cat and the twins."
There was a brief pause on the line before Carl responded. "I can't believe she had the audacity to show up in this state," he said, his voice tinged with anger.
"I know," I replied, my frustration palpable. "But we need to be cautious and handle this situation with care. The priority is the safety of Cat and the unborn child."
Carl agreed, understanding the gravity of the situation. The meeting was set for later that afternoon, with our trusted colleagues, Sarah and Marcus, joining us. We needed their expertise and guidance to navigate this complicated situation effectively.
As I hung up the phone, I realized how important it was to approach this with a level head and a rational perspective. While my instincts urged me to confront Tara head-on and demand answers, I knew that wouldn't be productive. Our focus needed to be on supporting Cat and ensuring a safe environment for her and the twins.
The day seemed to pass quickly, filled with tense anticipation. When the time for the meeting arrived, we gathered in a small conference room, ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
"Hey," I greeted Cat, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek. "We've got a plan in place. Tara will be kept under strict supervision in the hospital until further notice. We want to ensure everyone's safety, especially you and the precious little ones."
Cat nodded, a sense of relief washing over her. "Thank you, Alex. I appreciate all that you're doing to protect us."
I held her tightly, trying to convey my reassurance and support. "You don't have to thank me, love. It's what I'm here for. We'll get through this together."
As I pulled away, I knelt to the twins' level, who were watching our interaction with curious eyes.
"Hey, you two," I smiled, ruffling their hair. "Are we ready to rock and roll?"
The twins looked at each other before nodding. I scooped them up in my arms, holding them close.
"We're going to make sure we have the best time okay, my little warriors," I whispered to them. "
