Hiding His Alpha Twins novel Chapter 31

Catarina’s POV

Staring at Tara’s face made me sick to the pit of my stomach, she looked like she had had a fall or something, she was unconscious but the biggest question swirling around in my head was, why the heck was she here. What did she want and how did she find me here?

"Why is she here?" I growled, gripping the sleeves of my jumper and feeling grateful that the twins were out with Mindy.

"She needs to die! Let me kill her, finish her off!" Matilda howled in the back of my mind.

"No, Matilda. I need answers!" I told her, shoving her back to the far end of my mind.

"My queen, I had no idea who she was, she appeared at the borders and when I arrived, she collapsed." Alex tried to reassure me, but I was mad, so mad.

I took a deep breath and tried to gather my thoughts. Tara's presence was a painful reminder of the past, a past that I had tried so hard to move on from. But now, she was here, and I couldn't ignore her any longer. I did not want her to find out about my twins, they needed to be hidden from her, Lochlan and that old pack!

"Why are you here, Tara?" I spat; my voice laced with venom. "What do you want?"

Her unconscious state made it impossible for her to answer, but I couldn't help but wonder how she had found me. I had escaped to this small town, hoping to start over and leave behind the pain and betrayal that had consumed my life. The fact that she had managed to track me down only fuelled my anger.

As Matilda, my alter ego, urged me to end Tara's life, I fought against the darkness within me. I knew that killing her wouldn't bring me the closure I desperately sought. Instead, I needed answers. I needed to understand why she had betrayed me, why she had chosen Lochlan over our friendship.

Ignoring Matilda's violent thoughts, I turned to Alex, my confidant and source of strength. He tried to reassure me, but his words fell on deaf ears. I was consumed by my anger, my need for revenge.

Tara had once been my closest companion, a sister to me. We had shared secrets, dreams, and adventures. But her betrayal shattered everything I had cherished. She and Lochlan were a perfect match, both deserving of each other's deceit.

I knew I could never forgive Tara, not for what she had done to me. The wounds were too deep, the scars too painful. But now, as I stood before her unconscious form, I knew I had to find out the truth. I needed closure, even if it meant reopening old wounds.

But first, I had to wait for her to wake up. The answers I sought were hidden within her memories, and only she held the key to unlocking them. The path ahead was treacherous and filled with uncertainty, but I was determined to face it head-on.

Tara may have once been my best friend, but she no longer held any place in my heart. She was just a reminder of the pain and betrayal that had torn us apart. And as I stood there, anger simmering within me, I vowed to do whatever it took to finally move on from the past and find the closure I so desperately needed.

The mention of the twins momentarily diverted my attention from the unfolding betrayal, reminding me of the innocent joy they brought into our lives. Alex's words tugged at my heart, reminding me of our plans and the special break we had prepared for.

I took a deep breath, the conflicting emotions churning within me. As much as I wanted to confront Carla and Tara and seek the truth immediately, I couldn't let it come at the expense of the twins' excitement and happiness. They deserved a perfect day free from any worries or tension.

Realizing the importance of this moment for them, I replied, my tone softer yet still determined. "You're right, Alex. This is an important day for the twins, and we can't let anything ruin it.

"I want her locked up. She can’t leave here until we return." I pointed at the bitch in disgust, ashamed to say she was ever my friend. Alex seemed surprised by my request. We were interrupted by the doctor who looked very concerned over her condition. I would happily throw her out and be done with her.

"She needs to remain in the hospital, she is pregnant." The doctor explained and my mouth fell open in horror.

"I need to go." I spoke.

The doctor's revelation of Tara’s pregnancy abruptly halted my thoughts and fuelled a mix of shock and disbelief within me. The anger and betrayal I had been harbouring turned into a complex web of emotions, making it difficult to process the news!
