After a one-night stand I had three kids novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175

She’s back. Sloane Teller is just outside the pack borders, alone. I don’t know how to explain it, but I can feel her. How close she is. Almost the same way, I know when Knight is getting near, how close he is, and if he’s trying to be sneaky or not. She’s not. I can feel her almost like she’s calling me to her, and there is zero hostility about her. The nagging feeling I get when I think of Alpha Rizen is urging me not to make the same mistake.

The guys are with the kid that was caught, and the betas are arguing over the fact that they allowed someone to infiltrate their land. I mean, if safety is their goal, why the fuck would they leave such a huge gap three times a day? That’s insane, right? And they continue to fuck up because Sloane is here and is probably chillinout in the woods without a care in the world.

Ren?I peek into the kitchen to see her standing in front of the fridge.

I have been trying to think of what to make for lunch, Alpha Rizen, but I have no idea. I was going to take some stuff out and wait for the crones to come in,she says, spooked. I laugh.

I actually wanted to see you. Umm, I just put the twins down for a nap, and I was wondering if you’d like to go for a walk with me?I ask. She shuts the fridge as if it were the last thing she wanted to look at.

Okay,she agrees.

Do you guys carry?

Carry?she looks around skeptically. If you allow me to shift, I think I can carry you on my back.

What?I laugh. No, I mean like weapons.

Oh,she snorts and then covers her face. The two of us laugh for a moment. I’m a fucking idiot. Yeah, do you think we’re going to need it?

I do,I nod. I have been instructed to carry at all times since I met my mate.

I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere, she runs past me and stops just before disappearing. Do weI’ll just do it.

I check my phone to see that the guys have been gone for a little over an hour. Knight had told his father to stay with me, but he disappeared shortly after. When Ren gets back, we go towards the front and are intercepted by the man in question.

What do you think you’re doing, Little Mortal?he asks. He’s sitting at the bottom of the steps, eating pumpkin seeds.

We’re going for a walk. Want to come?I ask. He lets out a heavy sigh and turns around to face me.

I know enough about you to know that you know exactly where she is,” he says. He motions me forward. If she poses any kind of danger to you or my granddaughter, I’ll kill her.

Whatever,I shrug.

We head in the direction I found her this morning. From what I know about traditionalists, one thing they don’t do is take power. They believe they should carry the power granted to them by the moon goddess. Those who are still alive are insanely powerful because they were born that way. They don’t believe in the ranks the way everyone else does, and they hate the Kings.

Sloane is sitting at the trunk where we met this morning. I look back at Mr. Knightly. He gives Ren an order, and she walks off into the treeline. I slowly approach her. She’s eating a sandwich out of some tupperware. There are several slices still left.

Join me,she says, taking the tub and setting it down on the floor by her feet as she continues to stare out at the pack land. I take a seat beside her and watch those below. It’s a lot busier than it is when I stop here. Prettier. I’m not going to hurt you. There’s no need for the guards.

I don’t know you. They don’t know you, and they seem to think that I’m quite yaluable, so neither of us gets a say in who gets to be present when I meet with strangers.

Do they know what you are?she smirks and offers me the piece of sandwich in her hand.

They all know what I am, thanks to the former Queen Luna. That’s not who I am. I’m just trying to be myself in all of this.I decline.

And who is that?

Phoebe Altaha. Mother of two very gifted kids and fashion designer. I guess now I kind of like being alpha,I shrug.

It’s an instinct, she smiles. Something that can’t be ignored no matter how deep you want to bury it.

Is that why you left her? Eliza,”

Partly. It was also challenging for me to look at a child so perfect, born under the circumstances she was. I was seventeen at the time, and I didn’t get a say in my life. I was sold to a man I wanted nothing to do with, all because your dog back there obliterated my pack. I did what I had to in order to survive

here.

After the second child was born, I knew he wanted more of them. I hated them all: the girl, the boy, and their father. I ran away a few times, only to be dragged back. Then I met him. My true mate. The former alpha of Ipwich. The last true pack left. He protected me, trained me, and gave me purpose again.

I’m sorry you had to go through that.I say gently.

Don’t be. I have a family now. Two strong sons and two daughters. A loving mate and a good pack.”
