Chapter 167
Chapter 167
Knightly
“It will be different for you. You don’t have those kinds of attachments to people who have died around you. Your connection to Mathan is strong Getting agitated or having high levels of stress may trigger the visions. The same way it happens when you see them when you
you sleep”
I can’t help but smile at the low grumble that comes out of her.
“Well, it looks like the visions are here to stay,” she shakes her head and takes a drink from her glass. I put my hand up when my father opens his mouth to tell me something.
“You’re one hundred percent sure?” I ask him. He sits back, staring at her. The longer he stares, the angrier he gets.
“Yes, I am. I have twenty–six children. A third of them are female. I think I know what I’m talking about, Nathan,” he sighs. “Perhaps we need to try a much stronger medicinal approach with the silverback. We should look into Lycan medicine. I’m sure her sister wouldn’t be opposed to the matter
“Why are you talking about me like I’m not sitting right here?” Phoebe scoffs. He glares at her.
“You just make shit very fucking difficult. We never get it right with you, and it bothers me,” he stands up abruptly. “I’m going home.”
“I don’t understand why you’re upset,” Phoebe growls angrily. “This has nothing to do with you. I’m not your fucking project or even your daughter for you to be angry about something we had not control over. If anything, this is your fault.”
“Do tell, how is this my fault?” he laughs cynically.
“You provided the contraceptives. How do I know that you didn’t plan for this to happen, and you’re now causing a scene because your stupid plan worked?”
“Arnold,” My mother says, playing along. “You didn’t.”
“I think he did. He’s always talking about how powerful the twins will be.”
“Because they are. We don’t need the added tension. Nathan is already on the verge of shifting with the mere mention of you on the council.”
“Now, I can’t really go anywhere and will probably be staying at the packhouse for the entire duration of my pregnancy. This feels like you planned this.” Phoebe adds, successfully turning the tables on him. Why is this an issue, and why is she indulging him? Their relationship is fucking weird.
“Arnold?” My mom places her hands on her hips.
He looks between the two of them, his eyes flickering between green and red. Not knowing how to deal with the situation, he turns around to leave. Elliot and I bite back our laughter.
“Leave for all I care. Just know that you’re not going to be welcome in anything that involves the baby,” she shouts after him. He stops at the doorway with his hand on the knob.
“She is my grandchild,” he growls lowly. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me, asshole,” she crosses her arms over her chest. “How do you know it’s a girl?”
“Your scent,” he says. “You don’t smell like yourself.”
I lean forward to take in her scent. I look over at my mother, not catching on to what the hell he’s talking about. She shrugs, getting the same thing I am
“He’s right,” Ayrie says, climbing onto Phoebe’s lap. She rests her little head on her chest and takes a deep breath.
“Strawberry milkshake,” she and my father say at the same time.

Chapter 167
“That’s what I smell like to you?” Phoebe laughs, looking down at my daughter.
“Mhm. You smell like vanilla and the pretty flower. Not not mores.”
“Which pretty flower?” Phoebe asks, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“The tiny one. Looks like a star.”
“Jazmines.” I agree. “We should get back. Allison must be impatient for us to get back.”
“Yes,” Aizen jumps up. “We go home.”
Ayrie groans, but she wiggles out of Phoebe’s lap anyway and heads upstairs.
“I got it.” Aizen stops Phoebe from following. He runs after his sister to get their things.
“I think he understands just fine,” I tell Phoebe, knowing that it’s one of her biggest concerns.
“I’m worried about the last time he said he didn’t want any more sisters because they were annoying,” she grins.
“They are,” Elliot glances over at Tessa. She flips him off. “See, no lies were told.”
Phoebe laughs at the way my mother rolls her eyes at them. The twins barrel in with their things and a couple of new bags, I’m sure my parents got them as a bunch of new toys. They both stop in front of Phoebe. She stares at them wordlessly. It’s not until she lifts her eyebrow that the two turn around to face my mom.
“Thank you for having us over, Grandma Shark. You are the bestest,” Ayrie says, setting her things down and skipping over to her. Aizen does the same.
“You are very welcome.” My mom beams.
“You have to teach me how to do that,” I whisper to Phoebe. Once we’re all loaded up, she looks over at me with a smirk.
“Mommy, we’re going to have a baby sister?” Ayrie asks from the back seat.
“I want a baby brother,” Aizen complains. “We can have both?”
“Not this time, buddy. But yeah, it looks like we’re going to have a baby girl running around in a while.” I glance back at him.
“How long?” Ayrie asks.
“A year, maybe,” I answer.
“A year?” the three of them ask at the same time. I laugh, feeling the hostility of their impatience all around me.
“It depends on the baby. Some pups take longer. I did.” I say the last part quietly. Phoebe groans and falls into her seat with her arms crossed.
“That’s crazy, and on top of that, I have to deal with visjons?” She rests her elbow on the armrest and lets out a heavy sigh. “I’m going to go out of my
mind. I’m convinced.”
“You’re going to be fine,” I reach for her hand. She looks up at me, and I see that she’s genuinely worried. “I’m not going anywhere… re going to get through this together this time.”
“All four of us.” Ayrie giggles. “I can’t wait to see my baby sister. She’s gonna be so cute. Like me. Je vais lui brosser les cheveux et lui enseigner ses devoirs.”
