Snooping is my favorite thing to do aside from my mate. Lately, my choice of entertainment has been the Knightly Beach House. I’m not the only one invested, either. I stream it to Violetta and Jordan. It’s a little sick, I know that. But I can’t stop; something is happening tonight that has nothing to do with Phoebe and Knight.

Knight’s parents are on the back porch of the beautiful Rogue Queen Beach house. The night started like any other. The cameras are live, and security is in place. It’s been a few days since I’ve checked the recordings, but when I was playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure with my gorgeous niece, a movement on the beach notification popped up, and I had to bail on the kid.

To my surprise, Arnold Knightly, who had been in wolf form lounging around his son’s property, shifted back into his skin and got cleaned up nicely. I’ve missed a lot, so this information is out of context. I’ve been busy with the wolves who are being released from servitude. Knight is helping me out so much by becoming the Rogue King. He can take some of these wolves off my hands. They want nothing to do with the packlands and I honestly don’t blame them.

This afternoon, Phoebs and Knight arrived with Maria, Knight’s mom. She seemed upset and disappeared into one of the rooms alone for a while. Phoebe and Ayrie had a great afternoon painting while Knight, Aizen, and I played Minecraft. I couldn’t exactly ask him anything. I promised I would stop snooping.

A little while ago, Maria came out of her room and started smoking a blunt. It burns red, which means she’s trying to numb physical pain. Phoebe tried to cheer her up with some wine, not what Maria drinks. She’s casually into tequila. But she gets serious brownie points for trying. I wouldn’t have. I also happen to dislike her, though.

What was spoken actually made me sad because I never thought that the bitch and me would have anything in common. Growing up with an expectation is crazy. I used to think that my mating was perfect. She did everything she could to make her mating work, and in the end, he betrayed her to try to save himself. Petty was a stupid reason to lose his entire world over.

“What are you doing?” I nearly jump out of my skin when Knight’s face pops up on the monitor from the camera in Phoebe’s study. “I know you’re there and can hear what my parents are saying.”

“Please, let us see too.” Phoebe pushes him out of the way. “I know it’s fucked up, but you’re like in no position to judge us.”

“Dude,” Jordan laughs. I access the TV over the fireplace and mirror my monitors to it.

I smile when Phoebe runs to close the doors and get what looks like a restaurant-

worthy meal for the two of them. They clear her drafting table and get cozy.

“I’ve got popcorn.” The doors to my study or the gaming room swing open. The King walks in with snacks. “Jordan texted me. The twins will be down in a bit.”

“Hey,” I greet him after not seeing him for two days.

Knight is so lucky he gets three months processing before he’s authorized to move as the Rogue King.

“I missed you,” he says, kissing my cheek.

“Okay. Soaps on the monitors, not in the room.” Jordan clears his throat.

“You can go greet your mates for like ten minutes. We can play it back if anything happens.” I remind him, and he’s gone.

“This is kind of creepy, Little Wolf,” he pulls me out of my gaming chair to move over to the couch. I sit next to him, letting him put his arm around me.

“How did the council take it?” I ask, tossing a piece of popcorn in the air for him. He catches it with his teeth and sighs. “Ooof”

“Yeah, with the new Rogue King in order, they’re releasing the ones they have in custody. Those who didn’t want to commit to the packs signed over their rights as servants to some of our aristocrats, but Knightly being said King changes shit. The council is thinking of bringing back the mortal breeding program.”

“Fuck,” I shrug. “I mean, if they make it, the demand for humans will skyrocket. The more of them there are-”

“Yeah,” he agrees.

“What does this mean for them?”

“It means the hunters are about to become the hunted. You should warn Violetta,” he

gently caresses my arm.

“She probably already knows. She’s always been all in with the human. She’s also upset with him for losing a big part of Wolfe Enterprises to the Lockwoods. Regardless of what happens with us, she knows she can’t save his ass. Fuck em,” I shrug.

“Good girl.” he kisses my temple. “What’s going on?”

“We think Elliot is going to kill his father tonight to save the pack,” I answer. “Looks like you called it. Arnold seems to have come back for Maria.”

“Ha,” he grins. “I told you. I saw it when they were at court. She had a smile on her face when they were arguing.”

“You’ve seen Knight bait me with a fucking smirk on his face. That’s who he gets it from. You should see how he argues with Phoebe. He takes everything she says to heart. Payback for the times he made us feel like shit just because he was bored.”

“I know what I’m talking about,” he pats my head. I roll my eyes and lean back against him to watch the monitor.

Maria is in her wolf form. She’s pacing the beach while Arnold watches her from the gazebo where the beach shore and the house property are divided. I recently had Knight add a camera since it’s where we thought the dead spot was.
