From Rougue To Luna novel Chapter 32

Smart. I thought to myself.

After ten more minutes, I grew anxious, standing from my seat and slowly pacing in front of the door. What if they didn't accept me. Where was I going to go? Cage knew where I was now. He no doubt had someone outside the borders, watching for if I ran like I'd done dozens of times before. I was about to give in to my internal panic when a head stuck out of the door. I saw that it was Asher and he nodded at me and opened the door for me to enter. The room quickly fell silent as he lead me to the front of the room, stepping to the side of Rhett and motioning for me to stand on the other side. I tried to resist the urge to nervously ring my hands and pushed my chin up, stilling my body as I waited.

"Thalia Walker, the Spirit Moon Pack welcomes you as its newest member. Do you accept this pack as your own?" Rhett's voice boomed as he turned to face me.

I nodded and tried to keep the small smile from creeping up my lips. I instantly felt the internal turmoil I'd been struggling against in the hallway fade and at least for now, I knew I had somewhere to call home. I looked up to see Rhett's brows raised and he looked at me expectantly. I realized I hadn't actually answered and quickly responded. "Yes. I accept the Spirit Moon Pack as my own."

I instantly felt a surge from inside of me, coursing through my body before pounding into my brain. I could feel the warm and welcoming emotions from the pack members around me resonating within my thoughts before a voice popped into my head. "Welcome to the pack Lili." My eyes snapped open to see Rhett's glowing an icy blue as he stared back at me.

My heart swelled with warmth and I could feel tears pricking my eyes at the feeling of a grounded home surrounding me. I'd never had anything like this. I'd never had anything permanent. And now I had come full circle to my own pack to get it. I quickly sniffed back the tears before facing the crowd in front of me and looking around the room. "Thank you." I said with a smile.

The room began to erupt in cheers and yelps of joy as Ivy jumped from her seat with a smile beaming on her face. She ran up to me and threw her arms around my neck, pulling me into a tight hug. I slowly let my arms wrap around her and the joyful tears broke the dam, falling down my cheeks as she enveloped me in the warmth of friendship, of family. Each person slowly made their way to me, welcoming me to the pack with either a hug or a smile with words of friendship. I chuckled to myself at the look of distaste as Soleil shot me a nod with an eye roll before walking out of the room. Asher and Weston were the last two to congratulate me and I felt the weight of Weston's gaze as he smiled and hugged me. His arms lingered before releasing me and I couldn't help but feel eyes on my back.

She bumped me with her hip before pulling me into a quick hug. "Well you've got us now. That's all that matters. I better see you tomorrow at training girl. You'll be kicking ass before you know it." She pulled away and flashed me a smile which I quickly returned.

I could live without a mate. I'd thought I would live my whole life without one anyway. Why was it any different now? I finally had all that I had ever wanted. I had a pack. I had a family.

I felt a shooting pain in my lower back wrenching through my body as if I was being torn apart from the inside. My hand flew to the point of the pain as I doubled over, letting out an agonizing scream. I immediately fell to the floor as I felt a gush of warm liquid begin to coat my thighs.
