From Rougue To Luna novel Chapter 21

"So Lili, when did you get here? I haven't seen you around." Her expression was neutral, with a hint of curiosity.

"Oh, not long. I only just arrived a couple of nights ago." I tried to seem calm, not wanting to raise suspicion that I'd been spending time alone with the Alpha.

"I'm surprised we haven't had a pack meeting yet. Usually Alpha lets us know when a new wolf is coming to potentially join the pack."

My breath hitched for a moment before Elliott jumped in. "Well, actually, the Alpha has been getting to know her before introducing her to the pack. He brought her to meet the council when she arrived and thought it best for her to acclimate slowly instead of diving right in."

Ivy shrugged and continued to eat, not seeming to notice my nerves, or pretending not to at least. Regardless, I was glad for the help from Elliott. I'd have to learn to expect that response. She was right. It was uncommon how I was being introduced.

"So Ivy here is in charge of training our she-wolves. She began training with the Beta's family when she was younger and quickly rose to the top of the pack until Alpha put her in charge of training. We're so proud of her. She's been at it now for a year." Elliott beamed with pride as he looked over at his daughter.

"Dad, stop it. You always brag on me." She said, brushing his shoulder with her hand as she laughed.

I smiled at their interaction, wishing I'd had someone like Elliott growing up. My mother had always been proud of me, but I didn't have much for her to be proud of. Not like Ivy. You could tell she was tough. She seemed so confident. So sure of herself.

"I think it's great. That's amazing Ivy. Congratulations."

"Oh thanks." She said waving her hand dismissively with a sheepish smile. "Hey! You should come check it out. I have a group getting together this afternoon to train. It starts at 2."

I shrugged as I finished my food. "I don't know. I've never had any training. I'd probably just hold everyone back."

She looked up at me with a smirk, her eyes flashing in the light. "Nonsense. Everyone has to start at the beginning. Come on! It'd be a great way to meet some of the females here. It'll only be maybe a dozen."

I peeled my eyes away to whisper back to Ivy. "Who is she? She's gorgeous."

She scoffed and finished the last bite of her toast. "Yeah, but only on the outside. She's the worst. Her name is Soleil and she literally thinks she owns the place since she hooked up with the Alpha over six months ago."

I choked for a moment and stared back at Ivy in surprise. "I'm sorry, what?"

I tried to hide my immediate reaction, but Ivy's eyes flashed up to meet my wide ones. "I mean, I'm not surprised. Look at her." I bit my lip, hoping she would let it go.

"Ugh. She's not even that great once you get to know her. She's so shallow. All she cares about is status. Her father is the Delta and in charge of our warriors. She actually had the position of training the she-wolves before me, but I challenged her and won so Alpha awarded it to me instead. She was furious." A mischievous smile was curling up Ivy's mouth and she raised her chin in self-pride before turning serious once again. "She doesn't look that tough. She's not nearly as thin as you, but she's fast. Don't let her play you. She's a snake in fights."
