Damnit girl. I will not bow to another man. Not again. I thought as I shoved back against the submissive urge. I would never let a man make me smaller again.
I stood tall once more, lifting my shout high into the air as he walked in front of me. A low growl rumbled in his chest, warning me but I huffed back, shaking my head and stamping my paw into the soft earth.
His wolf's lip curled back over his teeth and he snorted, letting me know he was displeased with my lack of submission. He was Alpha and expected some form of acknowledgement. I stood strong, my head remaining lifted, but finally let my wolf walk over to him, curling her body against his before licking his snout. She'd acknowledged him as her dominant without bowing down in front of him, and I could handle that much.
He finally huffed and walked over to drink from the pool before turning back to face me. His glowing blue eyes seemed to sparkle and he took a step toward the other side of the bank, followed by another before looking over his shoulder at me. I slowly followed and watched as his steps increased before breaking in to a run. My wolf purred with excitement and broke into a fast run, flanking him as he lead us up the hill and through the thick trees. He ran faster and my wolf burst in to full speed, nearly passing him before he came to a sudden stop. I forced myself to a halt and panted as he moved slowly through the tree line. I followed behind him and saw him shift back from his wolf, standing naked in front of me. I snapped my jaw shut and tried to control my wolf as her thoughts turned lustful.
He truly was a glorious man, seemingly carved from stone as his muscles rippled down his body. He smirked and reached down behind a tree to slip into a pair of loose joggers, sitting low on his hips as I eyed the V of his stomach leading down below the waistline.
He tossed a large shirt to the ground in front of me and turned around, walking away from the trees. I hesitated for a moment and the finally shifted, quickly slipped the shirt over my head. It hung off of my shoulder and fell to my knees, but I was glad to have something covering my body. I walked through the trees following the path he had and gasped as I came out into the opening.
In front of my stood a large cliff, looming over the forest below. I walked to the edge where Rhett was sitting and gasped as I looked over to his exposed shoulder to see a howling wolf with glowing eyes staring back at me. It was his wolf. My hand immediately rose to touch the inked skin, running my fingers across the dark lines. I felt his body react as electricity jolted between us, humming beneath my touch.
"It's him." I said quietly as my fingers passed over the glowing eyes.
He nodded and looked over to me. "I didn't mean to follow you. I just wanted to be sure you were ok. But you heard me didn't you?"
"Exactly." He said lowly.
After several peaceful moments, I felt the bond nudging me to share a piece of me with him. I tried to push back the thought but I couldn't help the overwhelming need to tell him part of my past. I just wasn't ready yet.
"Rhett, I know I've been difficult and I've pushed you away. I'm sorry. I need you to know it's not you. I have just been through...a lot since I left here six years ago and it's very difficult for me to let someone in. I've done so many things I'm not proud of." I tensed, waiting for his response and instead he sighed, almost relaxing at my words.
"I know the feeling. I've had to act on so much as Alpha, doing things I hated for the good of the pack. Things I had never dreamt I'd do, but I had no choice. We do what we have to do to survive in this world we live in. You won't hear any judgement from me Lili. I know what you've been through was simply a reaction to the life set before you by my father. Your circumstances dictated a path and you chose what you had to survive. Tell me what you can, but don't feel like I will see you any differently. I'll do my best to share what I can with you, and I only hope you can do the same for me."
