From Rougue To Luna novel Chapter 10

I walked over and opened the door to see him standing in front of me, filling the doorway and making the hallway seem small surrounding him. He smiled down at me and my heart fluttered. I fought the warm feeling filling my chest and smiled back quickly. "So what's the plan then?"

He stepped over before moving down the hall, motioning for me to fall in step with him. "Well, we need to introduce you to the council first. Then we can move on to the rest of the pack."

I sighed and moved my legs faster as I tried to keep up with his long steady strides. "So what will they want to know?"

His eyes were trained forward, but I could hear his voice tighten. "Whatever you're willing to tell them."

I focused on my breathing, moving air in and out of my lungs as we made our way down the hall and through the common room before winding down another hall and ending up at two large wooden doors. Everett stopped and looked down at me, not moving to touch me this time. "Are you ready?"

I nodded and took a deep breath before he opened the door and walked in, stepping to the side to let me enter behind him before he shut the door. The room held a long wooden table and each of the six seat ms was filled with a member of the council. They were all large males, nearly as large as Everett but not quite and they were staring back at me in interest as Everett walked around to stand partially in front and to the side of me. The older male to the left eyed me up and down and smirked before earning a low earning growl from Everett. His eyes widened and instantly shot away from me to inspect the table in front of him.

We sat down in the two seats placed at the head of the table and Everett leaned forward, placing his strong arms onto the table as he spoke, his voice booming with authority of an alpha male. "Good morning everyone. Thank you all for joining so quickly, but as you can see, we have some things that needed immediate attention." He nodded to me and gave me a small smile before returning his gaze to the group in front of him. "This is Lili and she will be joining us for a little while until a permanent solution is decided between her and I. She stumbled into our lands last night looking for a permanent place to stay and it was then that she bumped into me, literally." He chuckled lowly and I felt a blush creep up my cheeks as a slow smile crept up my lips. "She is my mate, and we are currently wanting more time to know one another before proceeding with anything permanent. She would like to stay until something more final is decided."

They all turned to train their attention on me and I shifted uncomfortably under their gazes, but raised my chin and looked each of them in the eyes. I wouldn't let them think I was intimidated by them or by being here. Not again.

"Hello Lili. It's a pleasure to have you here." A smooth older voice spoke to my left and I saw that the male beside the one eyeing me earlier was speaking to me. He had short dark hair and warm brown eyes that crinkled in the corners when he spoke.

"Hello..."

"My mother had just died and I felt like if I didn't that the grief would overwhelm me here. I needed a fresh start and so I decided to go out on my own." My chest ached at the thought of that night but I shoved it away, focusing only on the task in front of me.

"Who was your mother?" Another large younger male asked to my right. He had cropped dirty blonde hair and striking amber eyes with stubble on his strong jaw. He was incredibly attractive, and only slightly smaller it seemed than Everett, but he couldn't possibly beat Everett's beauty. He was the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen.

I realized I hadn't responded and quickly answered. "Olivia Walker."

Several more gasped and their wide eyes flickered between myself and Everett as I waited for their response. I knew this was not what they'd expected for their future Luna, if that's what I was to potentially become.

"Everett, is this for real? You want us to allow her to stay as your potential mate? This Rogue?" The man sitting on the left closest to Everett snarled as his eyes bore into me. I held my chin up and stared forward, waiting for his answer.
