Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 95

SAAFIA’S POV:-

After meeting Dariel, I was in a state of daze, my mind failed to grasp how comfortable he was in the prison while I was sobbing all this time for him.

“Seriously? He is used to it?” I frowned while telling Helder and Sarah how monotonous he was behaving like it meant nothing to him.

“Yeah, not the first time he was arrested. He had made people he resent pay for it badly. I am also one of them.” Helder shrugged his shoulders, chuckling at my puff.

“What did he do to you?”

“He ripped our business from us until we were forced to leave the country.” He spoke calmly, leaning back on his seat. Oh, I almost forgot they were enemies.

“I know nothing about you guys' hatred so I can’t say anything.” I trailed off, exchanging a glance with Sarah who nodded. I had no rights to meddle in their past hostility.

“Hmm.”

“But he was being so nonchalant about everything and said he will be home.” I continued my series of complaints.

“Like, Helder, what? How normal could one act while being in prison, and don’t take me there. It was not a prison. It was like some hotel room.” I turned to Sarah then as we only saw normal dirty prisons but the one he had felt almost like a privilege.

“Really?” Sarah asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, Sarah. He is an aristocrat and used it to his advantage-” I was about to tell her more about what happened but then a maid came.

“Ma’am.”

“Yeah?”

“Mister Raz is here. He is saying he wants to see you.”

Furrowing my brows in perplexity, I got up, “Okay, I am coming.”

Ignorant what brought Jared here in Dariel’s absence, I went to see him alone. He was in the hall, looking down in a messy form. Bewildered, I came close. He looked deeply grieved.

“Jared?”

“Saafia. Can I talk to you privately?” He asked softly, tone sounding dead. It was fine when he met yesterday but now he sounded dejected.

Maybe his confrontation with Veronica didn’t go well.

“Sure. Is everything alright? Did you talk to Veronica?” I asked monotonously as there was no need for it anymore.

Dariel could deal with his upheavals professionally himself, meeting him here proved that. I didn’t have to wait for his return. He could handle himself.

“About that…”

Taking a deep breath, he released a tear and told me everything that happened between him and Veronica. Staggered, my jaw dropped to perceive what that woman wanted?

“What? But, did she do that? Did she love you?”

First left Dariel and now did this to Jared. What was wrong with her?

“No. But, I think it was the same man she probably loved before.”

“Dariel told me she had an abortion for some guy. But, why would he return now? What is happening?”

Holding my chin, I was having a feeling that it was more in-depth than being shown. There must be someone connected at every point for being able to do all this.

“I have no idea. She just left me, I have no one left. I am being punished for my actions. I am sorry, I am so sorry for what I did to you.” He sobbed a little, curling his hand in a fist.

Narrowing my eyes in compassion, I smiled reassuringly at him to not curse himself.

“I forgive you, Jared, if you hadn’t left me I wouldn’t have met my soulmate. Dariel’s presence in my life became my blessing. I love everything which connects our fates.” I told him sincerely, not regretting that he cheated me because I got my Dariel now.

I had gained my blessing.

“I see… You guys have my prayers then. May it remain like this forever.” He sniffled, wiping his tears and forcing a smile.

“Thanks.”

But then his features dropped into woe again, holding a hint of hesitation too, “Also, there is one more thing I want to see but I think it would be better if I tell you and Dariel.”

“Okay.”

“Do you have any idea when he will be back?” He asked worriedly.

“I don’t know. He said to not worry that he will be back in a few days.” I wonder what he wanted to talk about.

“Yeah, he will give someone money to take the blame.”

“I am having a bad feeling about everything, Jared.” I confessed honestly.

Veronica leaving, Dariel’s jail and Sam’s demeanor, everything was in a web of complexities.

Who must be behind all this?

“Here you go. Drink some wine and empty your mind.”

“No, no, I am fine. I think I should go and sleep.”

I hadn’t had my periods since last month, I was not sure if I should take it or not.

“You should but I doubt you will be at peace until your beloved Dariel returns so take it, it will help.” He offered, knowing too well that I won’t be at serene until my Dariel would be at home and to disperse my perturbation, I took the glass.

“Thanks.”

Taking a sip, I began looking down at my drink with an empty smile. My chest clenched as the amusing, argumentative, loving, adorable, all moments I spent with Dariel rushed in my mind.

“I honestly don’t know why I am so emotional in his matters. I was a calm and forgiving girl, Helder, but for Dariel, I did whatever I felt like, even if it was out of my personality.” I confessed.

Each moment I shared with him was no doubt mesmerizing.

My life became so colorful and amusing since the moment I said ‘I do’, filled with endless good and bad emotions.

“That’s what love does to you.”

“I guess.”

I laughed, finished my drink and began to fall into a daze so I could focus entirely on my husband who gave my life an unforgettable meaning.

“Ah, it’s late.”

After sharing a drink, I rose from the seat to leave for my room. My vision began to feel blurry along with a headache.

“I… should go.”

Trailing off, I forced myself to stand but my steps stumbled. Helder caught me hastily, holding my arms to help me stand but I could feel my senses fading gradually unknowingly.

“Be careful. What happened? Are you okay?”

“My head… is dizzy.” I groaned, holding him as support as it felt like I would fall if I let him go.

“It’s alright. You must be stressed, let me take you to your room.” He reassured me, helping me to walk but it was becoming hard to lift one step.

“Aargh…”

Before I could register, my mind blackened as I passed out, not knowing what happened to me.
