Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 96

DARIEL’S POV:-

I was still in the prison with a never ending grimace on my face. I wanted to get out but the process was being delayed, testing my low patience.

I had to be out before the news went to the media and they ravaged the image I cleared after a painfully long time.

“Sir, no one is willing to take the place. Each one we could possibly refuse.”

People had stopped seeing me as an arrogant bastard thanks to my wife, I had changed a lot too and I wanted it to remain like this but circumstances were challenging my goodwill.

“And why is that?” I growled, glaring at Ian who looked down.

“Apparently someone paid them double the amount, they are weirdly refusing.” He spoke worriedly, fearing my rage. My jaw clenched, hitting the wall from distress.

“Couldn’t be Sam, as if he has that much money. Someone else must be funding that bastard but who? Which of my rivals had grown this overconfidence to test me?”

Shrinking my eyes, I fell into a deep pondering. Sam was not capable of doing this, it had to be someone with precise information and money.

“I shall look into that matter.” He nodded.

Groaning, I pushed my hair back, not having fun this time, “Argh, I am getting bored here. I want to go home, to work and not just be stuck here.”

“I, Dariel Cannedy, don't belong here. I am at the top and things go how I want them to be.” I enunciated strongly as everyone had underestimated me.

“If it’s not working like this and force Sam to take back the case and Jared-” I was about to growl but Ian informed me.

“It was Veronica who complained on his side. News of her leaving Jared for her new lover reached too. Strange behavior coming from her.”

I chuckled dryly, “So that gold-digger went to another lover? Expected from her. When she doesn’t think twice before killing her child then leaving husbands won’t be a big deal.”

Muttering coldly, I expected no less from a heartless woman like her who cared about nothing.

She had always been selfish and I did right by keeping her tongue sewed and keeping her in her place.

“Hmph, they sure are taking me lightly. I guess your Madam made me weak.”

I chuckled at my own thoughts of how soft I was going.

I got Sam fired, got him battered with broken bones, I got him robbed too. I shut down Veronica’s public image, I shut down her outlet too.

I guess it was not enough for stone-like creatures like them.

“Let’s go the old way for now and get me out of here in the next twenty-four hours. Call the security minister, remind him of my mercy and get me out of this shit-hole.”

“Yes, Sir.”

I ordered Ian so I could go home. Usually, I wouldn’t mind but my wife was waiting for my arrival so I wouldn’t vex her needlessly and must go home.

“There is no need for it anymore, Sir.” The head of the department came to meet me.

Arching an eyebrow, I questioned confusingly, “What?”

“Just now Jared Raz came and gave his testimony that the complaint his wife made was false. That none of it happened and he was the one who did that to Sam in rage of being kicked out of the company.” He laughed a little, believing that I must have threatened him horribly to do that to him while this time I hadn’t. In fact, I intended to do that with Sam, not Jared.

“What? Jared did that?” I asked, mouth gaping. Exchanging a baffled glance with Ian who was just as confused.

“Yes. Foremost, we made your release papers and are now working on his imprisonment.” He smirked, opening the door for me to leave as I stood stunned to wonder what spirit possessed Jared to take that step.

“You sure are wicked, Sir, making poor Jared suffer like this.” He snickered but I was not amused at all. Curling my hand in a fist, my features hardened.

“I want to see him.” I demanded after they released me.

Gaining two moments from the inspector, I came to see the man who was going down a wrong path, only to raze his career and future.

“Jared?”

“Take care. May you and Saafia fight whoever is after your sacred bond.” He blessed us while looking down with guilt eyes, regretting the choices he made all this life.

I reassured him, “Don’t worry, I will take care of it now and get you out too.”

“You don’t have-”

He was about to chuckle nervously but I cut him off strictly.

“My Saafia has forgiven you then so have I.”

He never foresaw me accepting forgiveness but I had no reasons to be furious with him anymore. I turned to leave but stopped and glanced over my shoulder.

“And besides, if you hadn’t cheated on her then how could I have married her? Glad it happened.”

Smirking, I wore my shades, resting my hands in my pocket, I walked out of the prison after my one foe had helped me out surprisingly.

Before going back to work and detangling this complex web, I decided to greet my perturbed wife first.

“Ian, let’s grab some flowers and chocolates first for Saafia. You heard what Jared said. God, I told her I would be fine but no…”

Sighing, I shook my head in disappointment. It was my first duty to reassure her that I was fine and had returned before anything.

“Sure,”

He chuckled as we got some white lilies and chocolates for my beloved lover. Curling my lips in a jovial smile, I returned home.

A grin automatically came to my lips when my steps led to our room, dying to see my Saafia. My heart thumped with delight as I opened the door.

“Sweetheart, I am home-”

But the sight I greeted crushed the dreams I was living. Another malevolent shadow cursed my home, murdering my felicity when I found Saafia and a shirtless Helder sleeping on my bed.
