Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 93

JARED’S POV:-

My mind was bursting from distress, gritting my teeth when it was late again and Veronica was nowhere to be found. My mind was already overflowing with rage.

‘How could you do this, Veronica? What is wrong with you? Why are you interfering in their lives?’ I thought worriedly, rubbing my temples in stress until she finally came.

I was in a messy form, loose tie and roughly rolled sleeves as I rose from my seat when she came.

“Where were you?” I asked strictly, glaring at her but she remained unaffected and began to take off her jewelry.

“I was busy. I had work.”

“I believe I told you we were cutting all connections with Dariel and Saafia.” I frowned, resting my hands in my pockets.

“So?” She shrugged her shoulders.

My jaw clenched as I held her arm, turning her to me with disappointment coming to my face.

“Then why the hell are you trying to be involved in their lives and filing a case against Dariel?” I asked in a low tone but hissing, she pushed herself away from me.

“It’s not my fault if my husband is a pathetic wimp who couldn’t stand up for himself and make them pay for what they did.” She growled but I couldn’t help it.

I rather avoid unnecessary troubles. We all knew what Dariel Cannedy was capable of. He torments his enemies and I doubt Saafia could ever change that.

“They did or we did to them? Don’t forget, we are their culprit. We both cheated on our partners. We have no right to destroy their lives after leaving them.” I growled, reminding her that we deserved that punishment.

I knew I walked down a wrong path, I made horrible actions but I was willingly to place all my sincerity on Veronica, not realizing that I might be wrong.

“That is your damn thinking. I won’t let him get away.” She scoffed, refusing to accept that we were the wrong ones here.

“What is wrong with you, Veronica? You weren’t like this. You used to be so-” I tried to ask softly but she cut me off angrily.

“Weak and delicate huh? Well, that’s your fault to think I was. I didn’t ask you to save me or cheat on your sweet girlfriend.” She growled, pushing me back as I was astonished.

My eyes widened in disbelief, mouth gaping to fathom how easily she spoke those words.

“Veronica?”

Pointing her finger contemptibly at me, she started furiously, glaring at me and spoke what she wanted to for a while.

“I was desperate for a chance to leave Dariel, don’t think you are so special just because you ‘saved’ me from him. You didn’t, I was going to take any option available. And now I am fucking regretting it!”

My chest clenched accompanied by tears brimming in my eyes. The weight of her words crushed my heart. My feelings for her were always sincere.

Never thought hers would fade this easily.

“You can’t be serious. What did I fail to provide you with that you are doing this to me?” My voice broke, coming closer but she continued heartlessly.

“You couldn’t do anything, you are weak, you are a loser!”

A tear rolled down my cheek. Taking advantage of my silence and feelings for her, I could feel heart bursting into anguish, having questions about my choices.

Ignoring my warning, she turned to the closet as I hissed at her.

“And your downfall will come too. I am not Saafia who will smile. May the person you are going to abandon you in a way you won’t have any support and will be thrown to the streets.”

How foolish I was to choose someone wicked like her over her. She would face the worst outcome of destroying lives too, she would be left with nothing too.

“You wish for that to happen. He would never leave me.” She scoffed.

"So you are meeting another man behind my back."

"So?" And she accepted it without hesitation.

Openly accepting she was cheating me. I should have known that she was betraying me behind my back. Whatever I did, returned to me.

I should have known my sins would chase me. I left Saafia for her and she left me for another man.

“Get out.” I growled, pointing at the door.

“I am leaving too. I am not dying to stay here too.”

She smirked, taking out her bag, indicating that the motherfucking lover of hers must be waiting. Packing her things, she left, leaving a scar of guilt in my heart.

This was all the result of my actions.

My betrayal towards Saafia reached me in the end. I was punished for my actions…
