SAAFIA’S POV:-
After Dariel left for work, I spent my time by using my phone, talking to Sarah, disturbing her during her work and was reading a book to pass my time, humming to myself.
I was engrossed in my book until I heard the sound of a yawn. Shit, I forgot Dariel's cousin was here too. He was in his casual trousers and shirt, scattered hair and waved his hand at me.
“Hey, Morning.”
“Hey.” Smiling faintly, I waved back, getting up.
He truly looked scary whenever he was not smiling but no doubt his grin was soothing.
“Are you an early riser? I bet Dariel must have left for work.” He asked, ruffling his hair while looking around with his hand in his pockets.
“Yes he did. And I was not an early riser but following Dariel’s routine, I became one too.” I smiled sheepishly.
“Did he make you?” He questioned, arching an eyebrow with a teasing smirk.
I chuckled, shaking my head in denial, “No, I did it sincerely. I love spending the smallest moments with him.”
Unaware what happened to me that for Dariel’s sake, even before falling in love, I began to adapt his habits willingly, sincerely and I liked it whenever he was impressed.
“Oh, your love has my admiration for him.” He smiled sweetly.
“Thanks.”
He had breakfast, after that he approached me again with a box in his hand. I was surprised but he flashed a grin and offered me that box,
“I got something for you guys. Happy marriage.”
He gave me an expensive necklace and a watch for Dariel. Taken aback, I scratched the back of my neck nervously, not sure if I should take it or not.
“Thank you so much but you didn’t have to do it.” I whispered, averting my gaze. Dariel just mends bonds with him, I doubt I should take anything without asking him first.
“No, really, I feel like I haven’t done anything.” He chuckled, still offering me the box. Not wanting to sound rude, I hesitantly took it.
“Thanks, it’s so pretty.”
“Glad you liked it.”
I put the gift in the drawer and forgot about it totally. Helder was a charming man, he talked sweetly and thankfully didn’t do anything to make me uncomfortable unlike Sam.
He ensured that if I didn’t mind his presence or talking to him, it made me distressed, he stopped and left immediately.
One fine afternoon, I was watering the plants until he came playfully.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“Just finished watering these flowers. I feel so bored without Dariel so I try to follow some hobbies.” I replied with a grin and continued my work.
“I see. So what are you planting? Can I have a tour?” He asked delightfully and it brought a glow on my face when he showed interest.
No matter how many months passed, mine and Dariel’s hobbies never collided. He had no regard for my petite but delicate garden.
“Sure.”
I gave Helder a detailed tour of my garden, showing him all the flowers I was planting and how their fragrance was dispersed in the air.
“Wow, you are so good at it. You’re so talented, they look beautiful.” He praised, inspecting them from close.
“Thanks.” I grinned, standing beside him.
“Can I pluck a flower?”
“Just one.” I added, smirking when he plucked a yellow rose and gave it to me.
“A beautiful flower for a beautiful lady.” He smirked, handing me the flower carefully to not touch hand with mine, gaining my admiration for his gallantry.
“Thanks.” I giggled, tugging the rose behind my ear and picked the watering can to continue my work but he asked excitedly.
“Can I try watering too?”
“Sure.”
Chuckling at his jovial nature, I handed him the can and our fingers accidentally brushed which I didn’t notice and another sound of clearing throat came from behind me.
“Ahem.”
He sighed, wrapping his hands around my neck to press me against the dressing table so I could be locked around only.
“You know I feel possessive over you, don’t you? Please watch how you interact sometimes.” He whispered tenderly.
Curling my lips from one side, it amused me, “Are you jealous?”
“Maybe.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“You were. By the way, who was that girlfriend of yours?” I asked teasingly, intrigued to know his life before Veronica.
“You are asking me about a nine years old memory, how do you expect me to remember?” He chuckled, moving his thumb across my jaw line as his eyes stopped at my lips.
My heart skipped a beat, trying to ignore the way he was huskily speaking while stroking me as tenderly as possible.
“What do you mean? Who forgets their first relationship?” I asked, clutching his shirt between my fingers.
“It was not my first. I got my first girlfriend when I was fifteen, then nineteen, the one Helder talked about. And then Veronica and now you.” He whispered, leaning forward and was about to peck my lips but I whisper-yelled the first thing that came to my mind.
“You should be studying back then!”
Ruining his mood of kiss, he frowned, straightening his back. I made an apologetic look as he moved back, holding his side.
“That is exactly why everyone left. I had to take care of my family, my mother, and the family's condition was not the best, nothing worked out.” He explained monotonously, tugging his shirt out his pants to leave for the bathroom to freshen up.
“So how did you marry Veronica?”
“Contract marriage.”
“I see.” I trailed off, loosening his eyes while pressing my palm over his chest.
“And I had never felt this close and dedicated towards any woman in my life. I feel envious of anyone who closes their gap with you.” He murmured, kissing my neck, sending a satisfactory shiver down my spine after he fulfilled his desire one way or another.
“So you are jealous.” I responded huskily, running my fingers through his locks to make them messy, enhancing his features.
“Who knows?”
Chuckling temptingly, he kissed my cheeks, inducing an uncontrollable fondness in me and went to freshen up as I was curious to see what he would do in a spur of jealousy, evoking an impish idea in my mind.
