Chapter 304
Anna’s POV:
The elevator doors slid open, revealing Blake sitting alone in the middle of the empty space, knees drawn to his chest, head buried in his arms the expe skin showed bruises and cuts.
Blake wouldn’t cry over a fight, I thought, hesitating. Seth was nowhere to be seen.
As the doors began closing, I pressed the ‘open‘ button. Seth couldn’t be beaten to a pulp and dumped in some corner, could he?
Blake’s head snapped up. He blocked my exit, face bruised with a split lip.
“Anna,” he whispered hoarsely. “Let me hold you. Just once…”
He pulled me against his chest before I could respond. I stood frozen, overwhelmed by his scent and desperate embrace.
I pushed him away. The elevator doors closed, trapping us together. I pressed ‘open‘ again and shoved him out.
“Mr. Wright, please show restraint,” I said coldly. “Would you like me to arrange someone to take you home?”
“What about Seth?‘ he asked.
“Where is Seth?” I demanded.
Disappointment flashed across his face. “You’re with me right now, and you have to worry about another man? Can’t you see I’m hurt?”
“I think we have different definitions of ‘being together,‘ Blake. You and I were never truly together, were we?”
The elevator doors closed between us. Through them, I heard Blake doubling over, clutching his chest in pain.
On Richard’s wife’s birthday celebration day, I never made it to the party. Strong arms grabbed me from behind as I left my car, pulling me into a black SUV.
Blake had been waiting. Our bodies pressed together in the back
“Get off me,” I struggled against him.
his weight pinning me down.
Blake slammed the door and grabbed my wrists. “Let me see who’s being so disobedient!” His eyes raked over my dark red silk dress.
‘Blake, I really have somewhere to be!” I thought of Nora, feeling helpless.
Dressed like this? What possible business could you have?” he scoffed, pressing against me. “I warned you. If you dared come to that birthday party, I’d fuck you right here.”
“And in what capacity are you saying this?” I glared. “My ex–husband? Neither gives you any right to control me. Why don’t you just throw me under the car if you’re so determined to hurt me?”
Tears sprang to my eyes. “Blake, why are you always like this?”
He fell silent, looking somewhat remorseful.
“When I first returned to Boston,” I said shakily as Blake lifted me from the seat, “I asked what you wanted. You never answered… What do you get out of
this?”
I met his gaze. “I told you, if you wanted to sleep with me, I would. We could sleep together and be done with this mess. But you wouldn’t touch me. Now you’re pinning me down? If you’re trying to get revenge, this isn’t how it’s done.”

Chapter 304
I reached for the door, but Blake pulled me back.
“What if I want to new?” he whispered. “I admit, I was drunk that night. That’s how Claire found the opportunity to clings on fap of me that was my mistake. We’re both tainted anyway. Isn’t that enough reason to be together?”
How dirty does he think I am?
I’ve never considered myself tainted,” I said steadily. “What you think is your business.”
‘Really? Then what about you and Seth? You were with him before our divorce was finalized. Right?
“You tricked me! You made me believe we were already divorced!”
“Even if we were divorced,” Blake shot back, “how could you move on so quickly? Did you ever love me at all?”
I laughed bitterly. ‘Fine. I’m the dirtiest person in the world, and you’re perfectly clean.
I closed my eyes. “When you’re done with this tantrum, let me go.”
Blake grabbed my face and crushed his lips against mine. I froze before struggling, whimpering as his hand slipped beneath my dress.
Tasting my tears, he gentled his kiss. “Don’t cry. I’ve missed you. I don’t care who you’ve been with. I just want you, Anna.”
“Blake, you’re the one who’s truly dirty.”
He laughed hollowly, eyes rimmed red. “Yes, I’m dirty. I let another woman straddle me… but if you truly didn’t care for me anymore, why would it matter?”
*If you cared, you should have dragged Claire off me by her hair… Why didn’t you stop her?”
Anna, if you really cared, why didn’t you tell me earlier that Claire had inappropriate feelings for me? If you had just made me realize sooner…”
I stared in shock. That’s Claire–the woman he’d fall apart without!
‘Blake, let’s talk another time,” I said quietly. “Let me go. I clearly can’t attend the party looking like this.”
It’s not about Claire. We simply can’t be together anymore.
I reached for the door again; Blake caught my wrist.
“You still haven’t answered me,” he insisted.
“Enough!” I cut him off. “We divorced three years ago! We were divorced in that hospital!”
“You wanted revenge? Congratulations. My makeup is ruined, my dress is wrinkled… Are you satisfied?”
‘Let me go!” I shouted.
Blake gently straightened my hair, wiping smudged lipstick from my face.
‘Only I get to see you like this,” he said softly. “Don’t let any other man touch you here…”
laughed sarcastically. “What else can you do besides threaten women? Blake, I’m thirty years old. Do you think physical intimidation still v
1 me?”
I tore at my dress provocatively. “Men with your looks are a dime a dozen in the service industry… I might even accept if they’re free.
