“Why did you have to come back into her life?” I demanded, my voice trembling. “She was finally healing! And now you’ve pushed her back into the abyss. How can you be so selfish?”

I felt tears stinging my eyes. “Anna never mentioned you once in three years! Do you know how much she suffered? When she nearly died giving birth to Nora, who was waiting outside that hospital room? Me! I’ve been there for her every step of the way!”

I raised my fist. “I should kill you for what you’ve done to her.”

My punch connected with Blake’s jaw. His lip split, blood trickling down his chin, but he made no move to dodge.

“Why aren’t you fighting back?” I asked, confused.

Blake’s mouth twisted into a bitter smile. “I deserved that. As her ex–husband and future husband, I thank you for taking care of her. I can support the child too–it doesn’t matter who she calls ‘dad.”

I froze, my rage suddenly replaced by shock.
