Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 267

Chapter 267

Blake’s POV:

I sit alone by the floor to ceiling window, staring at the distant landscape. The private rehab facility in Boston’s outskirts has become my pition formu * month now. The view is stunningtolling hills and lush forests stretching to the horizon but I barely see it anymore.

They tell me i’m making progress. The doctors, the therapists, everyone keeps saying how well I’m doing with my recovery. What a fucking joke. I take the pills, I show up for therapy, I nod and smile when appropriate. But inside? I’m drowning

Whenever I think of Anna, my chest constricts like someone’s wrapped barbed wire around my heart and is slowly, deliberately tightening it.

How did we end up here? What did I miss? I gave her everythingthe lifestyle, the security, the status, I protected her, provided for her, I was á grod husband.

At least I thought I was.

Maybe that’s the problem. I never really understood what she wanted. Now it’s too late.

Claire visited yesterday, her eyes red and swollen. She brought the divorce papers, tossing them onto my desk with disgust.

She’s in such a hurry to get away from you,Claire sobbed, wrapping her arms around me. I don’t understand how she can be so cruel. After everything you’re going through.

I held my sister as she cried against my shoulder, her tears soaking through my shirt.

It’s up to you whether you sign them, she whispered, pulling back to look at me. But she doesn’t deserve you, Blakey. She never deserved my best brother.”

After Claire left, I sat for hours staring at the document that would end my marriage. The highquality paper felt heavy in my handsheavier than it should. Finally, I uncapped my pen, hand trembling.

The cool metal tip hovered above the signature line before drifting to my wrist instead. The sharp point pressed against my skin, not quite breaking it. Just testing. Wondering.

Fuck this. I’m not okay. Not even close.

I collapsed forward onto the desk, a wounded animal’s growl escaping, my throat. Hot tears spilled onto the polished wood surface. I’m so tired. Too tired to love her anymore. Too tired even to hate her for leaving.

No amount of money, no business strategy, no family pressure will bring her back. For the first time in my life, I’ve encountered a problem I can’t fix, a deal I can’t close. And it’s breaking me.

Anna’s POV:

I stepped out of the elevator onto the executive floor, my heels clicking against the marble. Claire had texted that she needed to see me urgentlyBlake had finally signed the divorce papers.

After weeks of waiting, I should have felt relief. Instead, there was just a hollow ache where my heart used to be.

Claire was sitting behind Blake’s massive desk when entered, casually brushing her long blonde hair. She barely looked up when I walked in.

You’ve got to be kidding me,I muttered, spotting the familiar papers on the edge of the desk. Even from there, I could see they were unsigned. I had waited all this time just for her to mess with me?

What’s the rush, Anna? So eager to get away from my brother?Claire asked, twirling a strand of hair around her finger.

I took a deep breath, swallowing the anger threatening to explode. My hand instinctively rested on my stomach, a gesture that had become habi

I don’t have time for these games, Claire. We’re all busy people.

She smirked, looking completely at ease in Blake’s chait, in his office, in his life. You look pate, time sleeping well?

I’m leaving,I said, turning toward the door. This was a mistake.

Don’t leave! Claire called after me. I actually have what you

want!

1 paused, not turning around yet,

With his signature and everything, she added, her voice honey sweet with triumph.

Six years ago, Claire had welcomed me into the Wright family with open arms. She helped me navigate the complex social waters of Ensters site. He lives shopping together, shared secrets, built what I thought was a real bond.
