Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 268

Anna’s POV:

It reminded me of those viral breakup videos where someone asks their soon to be ex,

away.

Did you ever for me?

that final twist of the ende belire

I found myself drifting back through memories of Blake and me, sifting through what remained of our relationship:

From the day I returned to Blake, I had accepted my fate. Being with him was repayment of a sort whether for a day or a lifetime, I had resigned teveel to whatever timeline he chose.

There were moments when I felt touched, even hopeful enough to suggest *falling in love again, starting over But in the end, it was just an elaborate fe

Everything changed at Seth’s wedding when Blake revealed we had never actually divorced. From that day forward, even someone as patient as me developed an edge. I prepared myself for a lifetime of this twisted entanglement with him.

I looked directly at Claire. Never,I answered her original question.

Claire’s lips curved into a smug smile. That’s too bad. Blakey actually wants to be with you forever, but you don’t love him at all I feel sorry for him, wasting his time with you.

In your eyes, what exactly does wanting to be together forevermean?I asked sharply. Is it spending every day with you while completely ignoring his legally recognized wife?

She was flaunting their closeness, and we both knew it.

No matter how articulate I might be in my professional life, I always stumbled when discussing love. Unlike marine science with its clear data and established patterns, love had no correct answers or formulas. Those caught in its currents had no objective perspective, no way to judge right from wrong.

Anna, how can you say that?Claire’s voice dripped with fake concern. Blakey does care about you. He has his reasons. If you have time, I could explain everything.

Don’t bother. It’s enough that you understand his reasons.I can’t. I couldn’t fathom what possible explanation there could be for Blake living with his stepsister day in and day out.

The truth was, I hadn’t seen Blake in so long that his face was beginning to fade from my memory. Eventually, I would forget him entirely. There would come a day.

Claire reached into her purse and pulled out a thick envelope. He said to tell you: one month from now, meet at the court house.

Those words sounded eerily familiar. The last time I waited for him to divorce me, I got seriously ill and lost several pounds from the stress. I hoped it wouldn’t happen again. This time would be different.

What I didn’t know then was that Blake had heard my answer through Claire’s earpiece. Never,I had said when asked if I had imagined forever with him.

And upon hearing that, he had instructed Claire to hand me the divorce papers. This time, it was real

a genuine divorce with his consent.

I left Claire standing there with that smug look on her face and walked quickly to my waiting car. Once inside, I pulled out the divorce agreement again, examining Blake’s signature more carefully. It looked messier than usual, more careless.

I found myself wondering why. Had Claire been distracting him while he signed? Was he in a hurry to be done with our marriage? I preferred to think he’d just been impatient.

My phone rang. It was Emily.

Daniel said you’re back? You’re so elusive these days, even I can’t keep track of you,she said.

I laughed. What’s up?

Chapter 268

Let’s meet. That thing you asked than to look into? There’s news,

*Really? Is everything okay?I instructed my driver, ll head over now.

Not exactly smooth sailing,Emily replied. The location is really hidden. Ethan followed them by ear several times but kept losing them.

People who’ve been doing this sort of thing for a while are always careful. The driver’s probably a professional. Tell Ethan to be careful net la per cenght we can’t afford to spook them.

We did get something though. Let’s talk in person.

As we drove to EcoMarine Group, I sat in silence, thinking. I was planning a special gift for Blake when we finalized our divorce. I imagined his face when he saw it, when he discovered the truth about Claire’s spectacular life.

But I recognized that my emotions were spiraling out of control. On days like this, Blake remained himself, while I was becoming someone I didn’t recognize.

When we arrived at the EcoMarine Group building, I found myself hesitating briefly before getting out of the car. The weight of the divorce papers in my bag seemed to grow heavier with each step toward the entrance.

I pushed through the glass doors, walking past the familiar ocean conservation posters until I reached Emily’s office. She was already waiting for me, and as I entered, she handed me a cup of tea. I brought it to my nose but didn’t drink.

That’s expensive! Try it!Emily urged.

I smiled and set the cup down. Let’s talk business.
