The man’s lips curled into a cold smile as he pressed harder on the accelerator, sending us speeding down the road.

“Someone you don’t know at all, he replied cryptically, his eyes hidden behind designer sunglasses.

I sank back into the leather seat, disappointment washing over me. What had I expected? This man had no obligation to tell me anything. My mind drifted to Derek’s birthday and my failed plans. I had wanted everything to be perfect, but now I was stuck in a car with a mysterious stranger who clearly had no interest in sharing his identity.

I noticed him glancing at me occasionally, his expression unreadable behind those dark glasses. The silence between us grew uncomfortable.

“Why do you look so upset?” he finally asked, breaking the tension.

I turned to face him, irritation flaring. “Listen, sir, I don’t know who you are, and you clearly don’t intend to tell me. So I don’t need to be particularly respectful right now. I appreciate your help, but please stop saying things that make me worry.”

He raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused by my outburst rather than offended.

I’m upset because I got lost trying to prepare a surprise for my soul bond’s birthday,” I continued, the words tumbling out. “I ended up in that village market, lost my phone, and now I’m completely off schedule.”

“You have a soul Bond?” he asked, genuine curiosity in his voice.

“Of course I do,” I replied, lifting my chin slightly. “He’s very powerful, but I can’t tell you more than that.”

His eyes narrowed slightly behind his sunglasses. “And you were trying to prepare something for his birthday?”

“Yes. Tomorrow is his birthday,” I explained. “I was at the village market looking for something special when I realized I’d lost my phone. I have no way to contact him now.”

I studied the car’s interior–genuine leather seats, custom wood trim, state–of–the–art technology. His watch alone probably cost more than a year of my tuition. This man wasn’t just wealthy; he had power.,

“May I borrow your phone to call him?” I asked hopefully.

Instead of handing me his phone, he pulled it out and dialed a number himself. “I’ll help you find your phone,” he said, surprising me.

After a moment, someone answered his call. “I need you to find a phone,” he ordered in a commanding tone that reminded me of Derek. “A girl will give you the details. Find it quickly.”

He handed me the phone, and I spoke with a professional–sounding person who took down all the information about my lost phone—the brand, model, and where I thought I might have dropped it.

“Thank you,” I said, returning the phone to the stranger. “That’s very kind of you.”

He removed his sunglasses, revealing dark eyes that regarded me with intensity. “Hmm, was his only response.

As we approached a large shopping center, I spotted the familiar storefronts of international brands. This was more what I had in mind when I’d asked for a shopping mall.

“Stop,” I said suddenly. “I want to get out here.”

He slowed the car, giving me a questioning look. “Why?”

I need to buy some things for my soul bond,” I explained, already reaching for the door handle.

His eyes studied me with an intensity that made me uncomfortable, but he pulled over to the curb without further comment.

“Thank you again,” I said as I stepped out. “I can make my way back to the hotel from here. I want to surprise my soul mate, so I need to get him something.”

He watched me through the open window as I walked toward the mall entrance, his expression still unreadable. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something familiar about him, but I pushed the thought aside, focusing instead on my mission to make Derek’s birthday special.

The shopping center was massive, with three floors of luxury stores. I spent hours selecting the perfect gifts for Derek. First, I found an elegant tie in a deep navy blue that would complement his eyes. I’d considered a watch but abandoned the idea when I saw the prices–even the simplest models cost several thousand dollars.

Instead, I bought decorative items for the suite–scented candles, rose petals, and fairy lights that would create a romantic atmosphere. I purchased a birthday cake from a high–end bakery, making sure they wrote “Happy Birthday” in elegant script.

After stopping for dinner at one of the mall’s restaurants, I was about to leave when a dress in a boutique window caught my eye. It was a short, deep V–neck dress covered in tiny crystals that sparkled under the store lights. The price tag made me wince, but I couldn’t resist trying

it on.

Looking at my reflection, I blushed at how revealing it was–the neckline plunged lower than anything I’d ever worn, and the hem barely reached mid–thigh. But the way it hugged my curves made me feel beautiful and daring. Despite the cost, I decided to buy it. Tonight was special, and I wanted to look special for Derek.
