Bonded to My Ex's Alpha Brother (by CalebWhite) novel Chapter 206

Chapter 206

Erin’s POV

I leaned my head against Derek’s shoulder, holding him tightly. His scent enveloped me, now more familiar than ever after our intimate encounter this morning.

Derek sat calmly, his breathing steady as he allowed me this closeness. Without warning, he lifted me onto his lap, his strong arms wrapping around my waist.

In that moment, I realized how completely my existence now depended on him. Not just as my Alpha or employer, but as my mate, my other half. The thought was both terrifying and comforting.

A knock at the door startled me. I jumped up from Derek’s lap, smoothing my dress and fixing my hair with nervous fingers.

I’ll get it, I mumbled, avoiding his eyes as I hurried to the door.

Opening it revealed a hotel employee in a crisp uniform pushing a dining cart.

Your lunch has arrived, ma’am,he announced with a polite smile.

Thank you,I replied, stepping aside to let him enter.

The moment the employee spotted Derek sitting on the sofa, his demeanor changed. His eyes widened slightly, and he swallowed hard.

Derek sat there like a king on his throne, his mere presence commanding respect. Even in casual clothes, there was no mistaking him for anything but what he wasthe most powerful Pack Alpha in the region.

The employee quickly arranged our meal on the dining table, his movements becoming more hurried as he felt Derek’s eyes on him. Not once did he make direct eye contact with my Alpha. After finishing, he practically fled from the suite with a hasty bow.

I closed the door behind him and let out a relieved breath. Shall we eat?I suggested, gesturing toward the beautifully arranged meal.

Derek rose from the sofa and walked to the dining table with that graceful, predatory movement that was uniquely his. I moved to serve him, but he stopped me with a single word.

Sit.

I immediately complied, taking the seat across from him. We ate our lunch in complete silence. There was no need for words; the quiet between us felt comfortable now, not tense as it once had.

After finishing his meal, Derek stood without a word and walked directly to the bedroom. I watched him go, then glanced at our dirty dishes. Despite his implicit instruction to leave them, I gathered the plates and took them to the small kitchenette.

As I washed the dishes, I felt a strange sense of domesticity. This suite felt almost like a homeour home. The thought of living with Derek permanently made my cheeks flush. I imagined waking up beside him every morning, sharing meals, building a life together

I was just settling onto the sofa when Derek emerged from the bedroom wearing a fresh suit. His hair was slightly damp, suggesting he’d just showered. The expensive fabric hugged his broad shoulders perfectly, making him look even more imposing.

Alpha, where are you going?I asked before I could stop myself.

Derek raised an eyebrow at my casual address. I’m going to my company.

Oh.I remembered that he had established a subsidiary of Stone Group here in Moon Abyss Pack territory. Do you want me to come with you?

No need,he replied. Rest. You need it.

What about you?I asked, concern coloring my voice.

I’ll rest when I return.

He stepped closer and patted my head gently, his fingers lingering in my hair. Good girl. Call me if you need anything.

Okay, I agreed, trying to hide my disappointment.

As much as I wanted to ask him to stay, I knew better than to try to stop him. Derek was a businessman first and foremost. His responsibilities didn’t pause just because we’d become intimate. I watched as he left the suite, the door closing softly behind him.

I woke with a start, disoriented until I recognized the hotel bedroom. The digital clock on the nightstand showed 6:30 PMI’d slept for hours. After the meeting and ouractivities this morning, my body had clearly needed the rest.

Stretching, I walked into the living room, expecting to find Derek, but the suite was empty. I checked my phone and saw no messages. Frowning, I called his number, but there was no answer.

As evening turned to night, I finally received a text: [I won’t be back tonight as I have some matters to attend to.]

I typed a simple Okayin response, then tossed my phone aside with a sigh. Boredom quickly set in. I flipped through TV channels, ordered room service, and even tried reading a book from the suite’s small collection, but nothing held my interest.

Around midnight, my phone rang. Seeing my mother’s name on the screen, I answered quickly.

Mom, you’re still awake! What are you doing?I asked, genuinely surprised.

I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about you,Elena replied, her voice warm with concern. Where are you? Are you okay there?

Yes, Mom. Don’t worry,I assured her, not wanting to explain that I was alone in a hotel suite waiting for Derek to return.

I’m just about to rest,I lied, hoping to ease her worry.

In the background, I heard a knock at her door. Hold on, sweetheart, she said. I heard her footsteps and the sound of the door opening. Oh, thank you,she said to someone.

When she returned to the phone, her voice was filled with excitement. The Pack just delivered a gift!

A gift? For what?I asked, confused.

For the Pack Alpha’s birthday tomorrow, she explained. It’s from the council.

My pupils contracted in shock. The Pack Alpha’s birthday? You meanDerek’s birthday is tomorrow?

Yes, sweetheart. Didn’t you know? It’s practically a holiday for the entire Pack,Mom explained. The Stone family gives blessings, and the Pack leaders send gifts. Even other Packs send/presents. It’s a day everyone in the Pack looks forward to.

1 felt a knot form in my stomach. How could I not have known this? As his secretaryand now as something moreI should have been aware of such an important date.

I didn’t know, I admitted quietly.

After a few more minutes of conversation, I said goodnight to my mother and hung up, feeling guilty and unprepared. I spent the entire night thinking about how to surprise Derek. What could I possibly give to a man who had everything?
